I more or less understand the specific mechanisms, but I do not get the big picture: I gather that the overall objective was to test what happens when turbines fail (the backup system needing some time to kick in). They deemed a simulation of such an occurrence starting from a normal level (3,200 MW) to be too dangerous. So they conducted the test starting from a much lower level. Was that more dangerous than starting the test from a normal level ? And if yes, why so ? (The problem with the AZ5 switch I understand).
