  1. Actually, the more immediate influx of immigrants into the country started immediately after Trump stopped transfer payments to South American countries. He couldn't understand why the US was paying them, so he stopped it. But the money was going to stopping immigration at the doors of the recipients. When the money stopped, so did their attempts to stop immigrants from coming to the US.
