There's a problem when people are using terms like Marxism, Capitalism, or Communism and everyone has a different definition other than the actual definition.

@GR-zh4ol Karl Marx believed that transition would happen voluntarily as people realized the benefits of his wisdom. It was the Communists that decided that imposing the system violently was just as good and a nice short cut. They believed, once imposed, people would realize they were wrong to oppose it (although that latter realization has never occurred so far).

@PnoidNews123 I'm not sure you are using the correct definition of liberalism. Clearly it's not liberalism when the policies created are illiberal.

@Jimi_Lee Don't mean to offend, but I think I'm going to stop the conversation for my part here. Plenty of people in this thread find this an interesting topic, but I'm not one of them. Personally, I think Communism should be held in the same regard as fascism, and it's proponents treated in much the same way. The hundreds of millions of people dead and suffering as a direct result of the practical implementation of the musings of delusional utopians isn't something I'm interested in entertaining.

@dimetronome Don't need to be an academic to crack open a dictionary. But when you have a population that doesn't like to read, it doesn't matter what academia does.

@MrSmith-zy2bp If they're a Marxist/Communist advocate, that's largely by the philosophies' design. They want people to constantly be in a state of revolt. People that feel like they fit in, feel like their lives are well-balanced - those kind of people don't revolt. That's why you see a constant changing of the goal post. You try to be reasonable and accommodating, but that makes people feel included - can't have that!

@Jimi_Lee The originators of the ideas always define those ideas. Just because there are idiots that don't read doesn't mean there isn't an actual definition.

@embracethesuck1041 No, it's the difference between knowledge and ignorance.

@NLF68 You say inaccuracies but Marx changed his definition of Communism several times, so it's hard to nail him down. But at one point he did say that, it's not inaccurate at all.
1
@blueanodized Yep, classic goalpost moving from the utopians.

@Jimi_Lee Not sure what I said holds up to the definition of manifesto, but ok. And I suppose you could make the case for your statement, but I think the argument would inevitably be disingenuous.
1
@Jimi_Lee Well I don't want get into the weeds but if you're going to make that case you would have to include apples to apples comparisons such as: 1)time frame, 2)population size, 3)technological/industrial level, etc etc. Good luck! I don't think the end result will be what you think it will.

@stefanmironov6405 You need to challenge their definitions because they're constantly trying to re-brand and re-package bad ideas.

@dashboardkid21 [always start the convo with "first lets agree with the definition of these terms"] When it comes to Marxists, there are a lot of bad actors that will present a very nice definition, and then change that definition mid-argument to suit them. Impossible to agree on a definition when you're moving the goal post intentionally.
