I'm not sure you made your case of refuting the cancel culture trend by citing known hypocrites for being hypocritical. For the rest of us, the encroaching authoritarianism IS a concern, and we do find these cancellations disturbing (even when they don't align with us politically).

Yes, but they've already posted the headline to this story. It's not "Cop shoots knife-wielding assailant to save young Black woman" it's "White Cop shoots Black Teenager Dead".

Intentionally hamstrung by the people they would go after.

That's the difference between a journalist and an activist. A journalist wants to obtain the facts to share, an activist just cares about the cause.

Fauci has proven he has no moral integrity. He lied for Trump, now he lies for Biden. F this guy.
5
Yeah, what the heck? The Hill used to be my "go-to" because they DIDN'T do this stuff. I'll be unsubscribing now.

My thoughts are similar. The US supply chain is weak and easily exploited - the baby formula crisis proved this. We need to know more about the nature of these plants and their place in the supply chain. Too much monopoly and oligopoly power is hurting us.

@ClownCarCoup That thought had occurred to me as well, but I think the baby formula crisis proved that industry concentration has left the supply chain weak and easily exploited. I don't think that's a lesson most people have learned and, even if these fires truly are random, could have unforeseen consequences.

Maybe not a counterargument but a critique. This bill is a proposed band-aid solution that doesn't address the real issues. The problem isn't debt collectors, credit agencies or credit reports, the problem is the debt itself.

Unironically promoting a stereotype that women are bad at math.
2
@chriswhited I didn't say anything about all women - you did. Stop putting words in my mouth. Two, it's not a "racket" if it's true. Again, not all women, just motivated, compromised women (like a politician or activist - sometimes those things being syonymous). See, I can distinguish between women and liars. Unlike some people.
2
@chriswhited You know nothing about me. The street corner, where you normally yell at strangers, misses you.
2
@ClownCarCoup They just looked at quantity in the context of the industry, but they didn't investigate into what exactly was damaged and their place in the supply chain.
2
Yup, no vampire squids necessary.

It's definitely relatable. :)

@ClownCarCoup [if this were an effort to go after our food supply they’re not very competent. Crashing planes into (near) potato chip plants is not going to do it. ] Why would you assume that would be the part of any plan? It's much easier to selectively target a handful of key processors so that they don't stand out and no one can really tell what you're doing. [Occam’s razor tells us this is just Tucker (and other RW media) grifting off the rubes with more salacious conspiracy theories. That stuff sells and they know their audience. I mean, Tucker’s “just asking questions”, amirite? lol] These things don't have to be mutually exclusive. Of course Tucker is grifting - it's what he does. But it can also be true. I'm not saying it is, but the possibility has yet to be disproven. This dismissive stance is just as dumb as the conspiracy theory about it. There are plenty of reasons why someone might want to intentionally do this. But is there convincing EVIDENCE, that's the real question.

@Sveltdre He's not their boss and he's not a government agent employee. He was hired on his expertise and appointed as the director of NIAID. If you can't stand on your credentials as an expert, you're just a puppet. If he gets fired for that, good, that's something we should all know. Instead he self-compromises leaving people unsure if they should listen to him or not. William Barr was a Trump lackey and even HE managed to stand up to him on important things. Fauci has less integrity than Barr. Let that sink in. And let's not pretend like a credentialed Doctor like Fauci couldn't get a job easily, especially if he was fired for integrity.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss this line of questioning. Yes, there isn't yet a smoking gun per se, but if the baby formula crisis proved anything, it's that monopolies and oligopolies have made the US supply chain weak and easy to exploit. You don't need a lot of fires, just fires in key areas. Do we know what kinds of things these factories produced and where their place is in the supply chain? I'm sure exactly NO ONE asked that question in dismissing this.
