Shocking clarity from an NDP politician.

@---uj5gv Agreed. They're already working 2nd and 3rd jobs.
4
Yes, how dare they fight for themselves. They should just take with their authoritarian government gives them! I hope you remember this when that same government comes for you.
4
The truckers rights were violated by an abusive, authoritarian government that used the nuclear option. The education workers rights are being violated by an abusive, authoritarian government that used the nuclear option. They ARE the same for anyone who has principles and not just a personal tribe bias.
4
If you thought it was wrong to violate one group's rights, why would you support violation of another group? Apparently you have no principles if you aren't equally opposed to an oppressive, authoritarian government in both cases.
3
They asked for 2.5%, they were offered 1.5%. Or, according to Steven Lecce, they asked for close to 50%. Liars gonna lie.
2
@turntablesrockmyworld9315 I don't think they understand bargaining is a process either. Apparently their understanding of bargaining is one side makes an offer and the other side has no say in it.
2
@Stroon92 I don't need to listen to ideologues. The NDP of today isn't Jack Layton's NDP.
2
You think people will be clamoring for a job that requires you to have a 2nd or even a 3rd job to not live in poverty? I'm going to call BS on that.
2
It's also about the Ford Government plan to make public school 100% online.
2
@lysanderaurelius7810 They've talked about online learning as a substitute for years but were looking for an excuse to implement it. COVID gave them that excuse. Now they can claim it works and we should do more of it.
2
@nadinemcintyre8271 You just said originally it was 33%, so which is it? These are BS numbers dropped by the government. Not even actual CUPE members have any idea what their negotiating team is asking for but you think you do?
1
@nadinemcintyre8271 Please clarify what you're saying. Are you saying 11% consecutive increases where the 3rd year tops out at 33%? Because that DOES sound ridiculous and I seriously doubt that was what was asked. This sounds like a lie.
1
@xiSwizzHD Confirmed by Laura Walton, President of CUPE, that the whole 11%/6% are lies. If they're not then Laura Walton is lying to every CUPE member.

@DCT-gs8lx [I dont know where you got the $27 hourly wage from. ] $27/h is the very, very top tier that applies to less than 1% of the workers striking. That's why they quote it. Average wage of an EA is $18/hr.. not anywhere close.
1
@rob-1873 Not everyone in CUPE gets those rates. Please share your online source. You can also find the previous contracts online and if you've actually looked at the numbers you know that's absolutely nonsense.
1
@DCT-gs8lx Looks like wherever he got that number from, it likely also includes vacation pay as part of the hourly rate calculation. And he thinks he's good at math.
1
@rob-1873 No, see, you are the one claiming numbers so you have to say where they're coming from. I KNOW the numbers are different from place to place.
1
@rob-1873 I ask you to provide your sources, you can't. You just keep repeating the same assertions. Just admit you don't know what you're talking about.
1
@rob-1873 There's literally an agreement and it doesn't match what you're saying. You do realize rates are literally spelled out, right? But you quote numbers that clearly aren't applicable and have no context. You also can't provide any context. I'm not "comprehending" because you're incoherent.
1
@rob-1873 Ok. I get it now. You're an idiot.
1
No. What's on the table is 1.5%, they're asking for 2.5%. But according to Steven Lecce they're asking for close to 50%. These liars can't stop lying.
1
That's why we oppose those who strike! We want to usher in a public system that is 100% online so we can have our kids with us even MORE!! Brilliant! This shows we care!
1
@Stroon92 Then we need a 4th option. I don't vote for people that think it's OK to teach racism to children in the name of compassionate narcissism.
1
@Stroon92 The Anti-Racism bill came from an NDP MPP. Ford put it through because he wants public education to fail. The NDP tabled it because they believe it's somehow a good thing.
1
@chefboyrbuj817 Take a look at the cost of living again. You apparently aren't very good at math.
1
@chefboyrbuj817 I've a masters in Economics, I know better than anyone how they move the goalpost to finesse the numbers of inflation. What are the core expenses? Housing, food, transportation/fuel. Those are 6.9%? You clearly don't know what you're talking about.
1
That's what they're doing right now. The Ford Government future of public school - 100% online. No doubt provided by friends in the private sector.
