  488.  @lisakaz35  [You don't quite state the facts. The window for lawsuits was established as compensation for the fact that the state made the statue of limitations longer for this sort of case. Since they couldn't or didn't grandfather this, they allowed people who could have used the extended time to bring forward cases.] They created a limited term law that would be in effect from 2022-23 that allowed plaintiffs to bring a lawsuit that would normally not be allowed under the statute of limitations which also allowed them to fast track to court. The legal council for the plaintiff was directly in the formation of the legislation and even bragged about it. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. Why wasn't this lawsuit brought at the height of the Me Too movement? Why is it that the plaintiff said she told a few friends and then they never spoke about it again until 2016. I'll let your imagination run wild as to what happened in 2016 that would make someone want to bring a lawsuit against Trump. [If Trump abused this woman (and his track record makes it HIGHLY PLAUSIBLE), she got justice.] The track record of people not liking him and believing lies not proven? She got a book deal maybe, that's what she gets. Did you even see the cut parts of the CNN interview where she said she thinks most people think about grape as sexy? Go ahead and watch that whole segment and tell me she doesn't come across as totally nuts. Anderson Cooper even had to cut the interview short. I'm sure in your eyes that whole thing is totally organic though, right? [The jury believed her and her supportive witnesses.] Yes, because as we all know, when it comes to Trump most people are neutral. Especially people from New York. [You argue as if it's somehow unfair as if "the coast is clear," which basically means you're okay with him being a criminal.] If he did wrong he should face punishment, but when you're literally creating temporary laws in order to litigate someone it's pretty obvious it's not about justice. You can't tell because you're either immensely biased, stupid, or both.

1769.  @osmosis321  [OK then, show me what your sources are for your claim that the study you cited is properly interpreted as showing the vaccines harm the immune system.] Alex Berenson was the first to report on it, and Ragasta Rintrah was the first blogger to comment on it, but since that there's been a lot more commentary. You're welcome to look up those names as a starting point or explore others. I'm sure you'll conclude it's a waste of time, but it's deep hole, and the further you do down it the more supporting material you'll find. [As far as I can tell, you're just wrong about Reuters, and I suspect it's because you prefer media that caters to your biases.] Of course you think that, that's how you dismiss things yourself, isn't it? Confession by projection. [But feel free to actually point out where it's unreliable as opposed to, you know, just giving me your opinion that it's not good.] I don't trust Reuters because I know they're compromised not because they provide a difference of opinion. For example, did you know the CEO of Thompson Reuters (at least up to March 2020) was James Smith, who also happens to sit on the Pfizer Board of Directors. Funny how they never disclose these conflicts of interest, eh? Gee, the fact checks for Pfizer products always show there's nothing there. I'm sure it's all just a conspiracy theory. Corporate news all share in the same lies. You think they exist to provide you with truthful information, but they exist to gatekeep information, sell the corporate narrative of their billionaire owners, and con you into manufacturing consent for whatever narrative they want to sell or goal they want to achieve. And, as per Stanley Miligram's data that 80% of the population believe authoritative lies no matter how egregious, people like you are the 4 in 5. No. Critical. Thinking.

2945.  @JIffy-gi8xg  [It's everyone's problem.] WW3 is everyone's problem, and you're on the wrong side. [Many eastern European countries are already investing more and more into their military due to feeling unsafe.] They promoted and conspired to make the war happen. It's their own fault for following the US into this and thinking it wouldn't blow up in their faces. They literally destroyed their own economies in their delusions of grandeur. And they shouldn't expect military protection from the US if they're going out looking for trouble. This is a complete disaster of their own making. [Russia has even less GDP then Canada but even America is afraid of starting an all out war with them, why?] Russia's GDP = 2.021 trillion USD (2023), Canada's GDP = 2.142 trillion USD (2023), so only slightly true, and as GDP is a bad economic indicator, you clearly have ignored the massive investment in military and weapons that Canada doesn't do, which are things that generate minimal GDP growth because these are resources that don't recycle effectively through the economy. [The promise of some level of world order is what stopping many countries from developing nuclear weapons.] Which was always a lie, a mask pulled off when the world saw what happened to Ghaddafi. [Every country that have nuclear powerplants have the ability to make dirty bombs as their final and best deterrent.] Dirty bombs are largely ineffective. If it was that easy, there'd be a lot more nuclear powers out there. Stop drinking the Kool-Aid. [It's in everyone's best interest that it would not be necessary for every country have their own world ending button to maintain their own sovereignty.] And yet this is what US and the collective west have led the world too, and here you are, cheering it on, completely on the wrong side of history.

2995.  @darlene2709  [The price of the Russian invasion of Ukraine will be much higher if authoritarian regimes believe they can break international laws with impunity.] They're doing it right now. The collective west is coming up with an excuse to steal Russian assets, breaking international law. "seize not freeze" is the phrase the neocons throw around. And when they do that, watch as capital flees from those countries because they can no longer be trusted. [Russia's invasion of Ukraine was premeditated, unprovoked, and unjustified.] The coup of Ukraine was unprovoked and unjustified. Russia has given very clear warnings -- all ignored. [Canada must maintain its course on Ukraine because it is essential to Canadian national security interests and democratic values.] No, we should cut our losses and not go down with the ship. The US is a declining empire and they're making it worse. Russia now has the most powerful army in the world (according to USnews). [A defeat in Ukraine would be a massive setback for democracy and usher in a more dangerous and unstable world.] This is just more sunk cost fallacy. We are wasting resources and breaking ourselves. [It could encourage Russian aggression against other neighboring democracies, threaten European allies, and perhaps further embolden China to take action against Taiwan.] The whole world have begun to re-align their interests, and it's because the west are acting crazy and blaming Russia and China when they're viewed as more stable and reasonable by comparison.

3015.  @guymontag2948  [[1) It's not, if you mean a steady, continuous rate.] So by your logic, we'll see another doubling next year? You want to bet on that? [[2) Our climate is way too complex to have anything effect everywhere the same way. Like how death valley is so hot is due to local conditions, not the sun being extra hot in that spot.] There would be certain consistencies that aren't on display. [3) Arson makes local news and probably national if it's big enough, but it's not that big an issue, contrary to the interwebs.] We don't know how big a problem it is, not because it's not big enough, but because national news will never report on it. FYI, I actually don't think the biggest impact is arson. [4) Lightning caused fires are not in decline in any way.] I said naturally occurring. And are you saying lightning caused fires are increasing? Because there's definitely no evidence of that. [5) When any forest fire goes out for whatever reason, unless it's burned to the ground, that area can be more susceptible to burn back because the remaining materials have been dried by the first round of fire, making more fuel available to burn a second time.] Yes. And this is one of the major reasons why we're seeing more fires. This is not directly related to climate change in any way. You have an increase in man made fires, and then this is the reason there are more fires. This is not climate change. The laughable idiocy of debating the existence of climate change totally ignores the main reasons that are actually the problem which are largely forest management. But you put a label on it (climate change, racism, conspiracy theory, far-right) and people turn their brain off.
    1
3016.  @guymontag2948  [1) You're the only one talking about doubling anything.] Yes. It's called data. Obviously you haven't really looked at it when you said that naturally occurring fires have NOT been in decline, when they have. [2) Such as?] The whole purpose of even proposing a concept like Climate Change (remember when they called it global warming?) is to find predictive patterns. Except what we find is that they are not making the predictions they claim, and opportunists are lying about reality to fit their squares into circles. How many times will you be lied to and fall for it? If you're really interested in Climate Change, talk to a Climatologist. [3) That's your interpretation of an absence of evidence. As an absolute best case scenario, that's going to be unreliable, and that is being very generous.] Are you kidding me? It's not an absence of evidence, there's an abundance of evidence. Which you ignore. And then you go one step further and declare that it DEFINITELY isn't happening because you aren't seeing it on TV. There isn't any question that it's happening. Only the scope of it is in question and only because no one has taken the time to actually compile all the information. [4) You seem to have a habit of telling me I'm saying things I'm not saying. That's a you problem, my friend, and one you would benefit from working on.] Me- [4)If this is climate change, why have the number of naturally occurring forest fires been in decline?] You-[4) Lightning caused fires are not in decline in any way.] Me-[1)Isn't climate change incremental? If so, why have the number of fires doubled year over year?] Me-[I said naturally occurring. And are you saying lightning caused fires are increasing? Because there's definitely no evidence of that.] I know reading comprehension and memory retention isn't your strong suit but the information is literally all in the same thread. [5) Once again, you're coming to unfounded conclusions.] Unfounded conclusions! That just happen to match what other experts say. But maybe you should actually dig a bit deeper and stop getting all your information from liars. [You're talking like you're reasoning your way through something, then attribute everything to man-made fires with no actual reasoning behind that conclusion.] Man made fires are the part of the fire pie that's growing while naturally occurring fires are not. Just because you don't understand a topic isn't proof I don't understand it. And I've already explained a bit of it to you already. [As a general rule, if you can't explain your reasoning, you don't understand it yourself.] The point of thinking is to do the work yourself. I know this is hard for you but the net benefit is worth it once you learn it. You still insist on other people doing your thinking for you. That's why you keep listening to liars and you and I keep having these conversations. First do your homework and THEN speak. Don't just offer up unsubstantiated opinions.

But there was a negotiation, and the city initially gave their approval. All that is true and factual. [As to the judge declaring it a legal protest, that is also completely untrue. A judge told the protesters that they have a right to protest legally. The meaning of the quote is completely unambiguous, and it does not mean what you're claiming.] At the injunction they had every opportunity to bring up and all grievances. The judge ruled the protest legal and could continue. If the judge didn't think that, he could have shut down the whole convoy protest right there. It's LITERALLY one of the questions the judge was asked to answer. It's absolutely true and you can't see the forest for the trees. Again, they could have shut down the protest at any time with a court order but the government chose the Emergencies Act instead. [Tbh, I think you've lost the plot. so to speak. I think you've maybe gone too deep down the wrong rabbit hole, because you're espousing delusional beliefs. Good luck to you, though. Sincerely.] No, you've so propagandized, you've absorbed every lie and now gaslight others. People like you are the reason the Trudeau government can continue on their path to authoritarianism all the while lining their own pockets with unprecedented corruption. The government used the Emergencies Act to shut down a protest they could have done any number of other ways and didn't even try. They then farmed out the process to friendly judges to rubber stamp it so they could claim they did nothing wrong, while prosecuting misdemeanors as felonies and using their influence in the court to reject any court challenges. "I'm" the delusional one?! Please share with us all the other pathetic lies you believe so I can knock them down one by one.

A good example is hydrogen fuel cells being very cool technology which, unfortunately, requires enough platinum that it is not possible to scale up to replace all cars as there's just not enough platinum to go around. That makes it unattainable, in a sense, never mind sustainable.] Agreed, green doesn't necessarily mean sustainable (but that's how they always promote it when they talk about green energy). I've heard other people talk about hydrogen fuel cells but I admit I haven't done my research on them. But if, as you say, there isn't enough platinum to make it work, I don't know why we would continue to talk about it at all. Sounds like we'd have to suddenly get our hands on a lot of cheap platinum (virtually impossible) or the technology would have to take a dramatic change in development (possibly something to replace the platinum?). [Lots of people's sense of personal freedom is tied up in their vehicles, but it's mostly an illusion, tbh. The roads may or may not be passable in an emergency, but assuming they are, your car is only good for one tank of gas or until you crash it, before it is dependent on an outside system, just like public transport options are.] Yes, there are some dependencies on a basic infrastructure to a certain extent but that doesn't determine where you can drive and where you can't the way EVs do. As an example - What's easier? Bringing a generator to your EV or a container of gasoline in the event you run out of gas in the middle of nowhere? Switching batteries are hypothetically doable but it doesn't seem like any current designs allow for it. Having said that, when I was saying independence I was saying that in terms of having your own vehicle vs public transit, not specifically a gas vs EV vehicle comparison but a reference to the OPs comment. Also, a totally mechanical, combustion engine isn't something you can just turn off with the push of a button, but more and more vehicles of both types seem to be headed that way. Also, especially in Canada, charging is difficult in extremely cold weather so that's a real logistical problem I don't hear enough people talking about. The problem's go beyond the lack of infrastructure.

There's a difference between what Danielle Smith actually said and what her political opponents and their mouth pieces say. She originally said she would promise to allow the provincial government to ignore or refuse to enforce federal laws, court rulings and regulatory decisions that legislators in the province believe negatively impact Alberta’s interests. And then critics said this was unconstitutional. To which her camp responded - then the constitution needs to change. Do we even know what Supreme Court we're talking about at this point? Provincial or federal? It's also interesting that you view this as an attack (a challenge) rather than a defensive move. [Rob Anderson, Smith's campaign chair for the United Conservative Party leadership and now executive director of her transition team, told CBC in a story published Saturday that Smith's proposed sovereignty act won't empower Alberta to disregard Supreme Court rulings."] Yes, he was also the one that said the constitution needed to change. And who's to say it doesn't if the Federal government insists on overreach? Justin Trudeau isn't playing it cool to avoid a trap, as you've said. He knows if he pushes too hard he risks a very real revolt by the provinces and even a possible exit from federation. Quebec would love that. You can single out Alberta all you want, but a precedent is a precedent and whatever Trudeau does to Alberta can be imposed on all the other provinces, and all the Premiers are hyper aware of that.

No, I ask questions. Like, what do you know about elevator shafts? Because obviously you don't know the basics. 1)Elevator shafts DO have electrical leading to them. This is not proof of Hamas presence. 2)It's not the middle of nothing, the place has been reduced to rubble due to bombardment, or did you already forget? 3)The "secret panel" he points out is a cover panel that all elevators have so people don't fall down an elevator shaft. 4)He claims there is a bullet/explosive proof door, but doesn't provide any evidence, just casually gestures at the elevator shaft. 5)He also claims it somehow belongs to Hamas Leadership without evidence (how many times do you need to hear these liars make such a claim, while simultaneously claiming they don't know if they were successful in killing Hamas?). [Oh yeh..nothing odd about that...are you serious?] That was just the breakdown of the elevator shaft he claims is a Hamas underground tunnel access (without showing the actual tunnel at any point in the video, or even the door to the tunnel). There's plenty more. As someone already pointed out, the "kill list" he said was on the door was just a calendar. Ask anyone that reads Arabic or take a screen shot and translate it yourself. They bit off more than they could chew, but that doesn't mean they don't want to take another bite. In the meantime, Egypt's a good little puppet and takes all kinds of US money. Egypt has its own apartheid it likes to practice which makes them the perfect ally for Israel. [Similarly the Gaza strip once belonged to Egypt and was returned to Palestinians and similarly west bank from Jordon.] Clearly you're listening to liars. Egypt didn't own Palestine either, they just ran it. And Israel took over management and we've all seen what that means - the eradication of the people living there. The West bank was also theft from Jordan which Jordan didn't contest to maintain the peace. They weren't some generous gift. Thy came with the conditions of a concentration camp. [If you don't know history learn it.] In your case, you don't know the history at all. You should read up on the history of Zionism and what actually underpins it (because it sure isn't Judaism). [First of all open your sense organ.] You need to stop accepting the narrative of liars and employ some critical thinking. You're exactly the kind of person that is persuaded by a computer generated cartoon as "proof" that the Lebanese all have missile launchers in their living rooms.

3459.  @BCATC.250r  [I never voted him in like you did lol I'm saying what's happing in the world right now is not the government of Canada's fault?] I didn't vote for him. lol And you can say it's not all his fault but he's definitely helping it along and contributing to it. [The world is running out of food an water 🌊! But yup it must be Justin Trudeau fault 😂] The world is not running out of either food or water. But you know what DOES lead to things like a food shortage? A 30% carbon tax on farmers in the name of environmental policy that doesn't actually help the environment. Or how about denying Canadian potatoes to the market by insisting on destroying them when they contract a fungus that has ZERO health concerns but makes for an ugly potato. There are many, many more examples. All the while promoting bug farms like the Aspire Food Group in London, Ontario. But hey, wouldn't want to be called a "theorist" with cold hard facts. [he's only one man lol 😆 food prices an gas prices have gone up in every country!? Want to know why!!? Because there's not much left!!] Wrong. Supply shortages aren't necessarily because of a lack of total supply, but a lack of available supply in the market. Shocks are not proof of long term instability if the problems are corrected. And there are many reasons why gas prices have gone up - most notably the war Trudeau is so keen on giving money to, but that doesn't mean the government can't do anything to lower prices. They could cut taxes, for example, but they won't. Because they don't care about the pain of Canadians.

3870.  @fuzzy6006  [ lol....dude, if anybody's afraid here it's you and your fellow conspiracy theorists.] Not afraid of something I'm not taking. If I'm afraid of anything it's a government that wants to force me to put things in my body that even they don't know the contents of, and then wants to punish me if I dare to protest it. I'm also afraid of deluded people like you that went along with the increasing authoritarian reach because you blindly, naively, and gullibly believe in authoritative sources over what's right in front of your face. [But ya, cuz you apparently don't know the difference and need your info spoonfed, the difference is numbers of infected people are way down and less serious and so the situation in the hospitals.] This is perhaps the most hilariously deluded thing you've said yet. Spoonfed info? Actively vetting scientific and medical experts, reading the scientific studies, etc. is actually a lot of time and effort. Watching corporate TV and thinking you have all the answers because you're lazy is the very definition of spoonfed misinformation. Project much? [That's probably the most relevant difference because now there isn't any talk about triage anymore, where decisions had to be made who is given a chance to live or not(not to mention all the innocent people who suffered and maybe even died because of delayed diagnoses and/or operations).] Those that died from triage are largely from the mandates that you clearly supported. The numbers of couf related deaths haven't changed, only the way they calculate the numbers. The only real change is that the actual at-risk demographic, the elderly, are vaccinated. They were the only ones that ever needed it, and we still don't know what the long term effects will be (but it doesn't look good). They're out of immediate danger, but the science indicates that they're now more at risk of other, unrelated health problems from what they originally received protection for. Do you still believe you saved the lives of others by getting the vaccine? If so, please explain how that works. Do you still think vaccines stop transmission?

3888.  @coolioso808  [I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt that you are new to what real critical thinking looks like and that's why you don't recognize it when you see someone else employ it.] I’m very familiar with critical thinking. You’re just simply not employing it. Unless you mean thinking excessively through a critical theory lens. That’s kind of what parts of this argument looks like. [Because when you look past the surface level, find the truth, you find that there is no different types of capitalism in structure.] [..the incentives are to maximize profit, use competitive self-interest for gain, and to infinitely grow.] True, the incentive structure is as you said. This is not a bug but a feature. But you’re definitely wrong in saying that this is a “structure” that has no difference regardless of type. [There is not communist/socialist full countries, where the people own the means of production collectively, not a small group of corporate bosses or government officials.] The world will never live in a hippie commune not least of which is because the sheer population size requires a more rigid hierarchical structure. And state-owned capitalism is very much a thing in more socialist/communist countries. I could state with perfect truth that there are also no countries that are 100% capitalistic. This is not proof of any of your statements. [There are, however, more social democracies with strong regulations on corporations, high taxes, but very strong social supports like free college, universal basic income, housing for all, etc. that put those countries top of the list on happiness and Gini coefficient rankings - showing that socialist-style policies are more helpful, than harmful.] That’s because these countries address problems that capitalism doesn’t address. It’s a partnership, not a refutation. Capitalism is designed to create wealth. To create incentives to best use scarce resources. There are essential things capitalism doesn’t address, but that doesn’t mean it’s the root of all evil (although it can be if a balance isn’t struck). It’s not meant to address every human issue. [USA is one of the most deeply capitalist countries on Earth.] Yes, it uses a largely lassiez-faire capitalism with few or no controls. There are plenty of other countries, as you pointed out, that also follow a capitalistic system that doesn’t work the way the American one does. [I always consider I might be wrong on something, I'm eager to find out the truth. If you want to prove me wrong, present facts, figures or valid arguments, I'll hear it all.] Although I appreciate the gesture, it seems to me your education on the topic needs to continue. I can’t convince you by telling you things you don’t know as you will attack the information rather than decide on the pros and cons. The best way for you to be convinced is to learn it yourself and decide once you do. The first step is to rid yourself of the idea that all forms of capitalism are the same and educate yourself on the variations. If you refuse to accept they are indeed different in execution and implementation then we’ve already reached an impasse. [What's my alternative suggestion? A system of Natural Law, localized, automated, open-sourced, networked access-sharing maximized technical efficiency to meet the needs of all people, without labor-for-income, without systemic poverty, the need for politicians, war or existence of debt and slavery.] This isn’t an alternative system, this is a wish list. Does this system exist anywhere else then in your own mind? Have you fully fleshed it out in detail? Have you convinced a single person that your ideas are worth pursuing to the point they would be actually interested in implementing it? I suspect not. You still fail to deliver a credible alternative. [If you woke up tomorrow and money didn't exist what would happen?] Funny question. This seems to indicate you don’t understand what money is, and that even if you replaced it with something else, the replacement would have the same meanings and incentive structures.

3889.  @coolioso808  [Why do you refuse to accept a simple structural fact that capitalism, with the incentives built in for profit maximization, competitive self-interest and infinite growth are unjust and unsustainable.] I think you fail to realize why the system is so effective - because people are all these things as well. And I agree there are many aspects (like growth) that are unsustainable, but the pursuit won’t stop because of that. Also, the “unjustness” of it, as I already pointed out, has to be balanced by other things. Capitalism is good at generating wealth and nothing else. If you’re imposing any expectations more than that, you don’t understand its nature. [You beat around the bush without addressing the core issue.] I’ve addressed the core issue, you just refuse to accept what capitalism is and, most notably, what it isn’t. [It certainly isn't socialism or communism because people collectively owning the means of production wouldn't be so stupid as to pollute their own water, air and land to the ridiculous degree that we are seeing.] Yes, they would. They’re doing it. Some people can’t even be bothered to recycle, despite all the problems with even something simple like that. [The majority of countries that are doing fairly well, for now, on happiness and overall health, are from strong social programs- not from capitalist private business.] Hate to point out the obvious, but what do you think pays for that? [I'm hoping you were trying to be funny, not actually thinking that the only alternative to monetary-market economics is hippie communes.] This appeared to be what you were proposing, I just gave it a name that accurately describes it. And while ignoring the comparison you also ignore the lack of scalability I pointed out. [Yes, we need a global sense of resource management, hierarchies exist in different fields and departments and aspects of life, but they do not have to exist in economic classes,..] Wrong. All things being equal, they necessitate it because not everyone brings the same resources to the table (and by resources I’m not talking about money, I’m talking about human capital – intelligence, competence, drive, etc). I’m guessing you’ve never heard of the Pareto principle? [Natural Law is the law we can't avoid. Man's Law complicates things.] Assuming we’re using the same definition, mostly the “man’s laws” success at adoption is a direct result of being in line with natural law. [Do you even have a reason why you defend capitalism?] I don’t want to defend it. I just understand what it is and what it isn’t. I also don’t want a poorly thought out alternative. We don’t need a cure worse than the disease. [But if your idea of a healthy system is selfish privatization, I'd ask you why you think that way.] For the record, I don’t. Healthcare is one example of something that shouldn’t be at the mercy of purely market driven forces. [You can fully read and explore the science and logic behind it if you check out "Economic Calculation in a Natural Law Resource Based Economy."] Interesting. I will. Thank you.

3949.  @Pickle_Golf  [Sorry but you are offering a false statement.] Keep reading and realize you didn’t even address my statement, which IS correct. The rebates do not offset the total amount in taxes Canadians are paying. [The Harper Carbon Price (the original Carbon Tax) was set at $65/tonne. Those costs could be passed on to the consumer.] No, it wasn’t. The Harper Government envisioned a $65/tonne amount over a period of 10 yearsin a cap and trade model. It was never a carbon tax, never introduced as a $65/tonne shock immediately, and it also never got anywhere near that high under Harper. The plan also had plenty of carbon offsets for provinces, not all of which introduced their own legislation Alberta was the first in 2007 and it was $15/tonne then. The price wasn’t raised until the Notley NDP raised it to $20/tonne in 2017, and then $30/tonne in 2018. Still pretty low by today’s rates imposed by the Liberals. And there was never a universal program introduced by Harper. It was a patchwork of provinces until 2015 (Ontario opted in in 2018 under Wynne, then promptly opted out when Ford was elected). [The Liberals introduced the Rebate to this policy to offset the passing of the cost to the end consumer.] This is all some amazing revisionist history you got there. The Liberals started adding on increases and only introduced rebates halfway after doing that to stop a revolt. And even in that case they made several regional exceptions for political reasons. It was the Liberals that enforced a new federal carbon pricing plan in October 2016 or did you forget the three Supreme Court challenges the provinces brought? And even then, the requirement was $10 per year increase until $50/tonne in 2022. Then in 2020 they revised again, this time demanding increases of $15/year after 2022 until the tax reached $170/tonne in 2030 in an effort to achieve net zero emissions. And they just keep adding. As of Apr 1, 2024 there is a fuel charge of $80/tonne for gas. [They cluster-f’d the messaging and it’s complicated as hell to explain but the net impact is that the revision of Harper’s Carbon Price policy is what redistributes the taxes paid by business and consumers to those consumers who need it the most.] It’s pretty simple when the Liberal’s own report says that consumers pay more. Your lies don’t fly and this nonsense has to stop.

3966.  @guymontag2948  [I don't remember which video that was, sorry. In essence, it you receive income from a foreign source, YouTube for example, every single thing you post must be accompanied by a disclaimer saying, essentially, that you are not trustworthy.] I think I found the video. It discusses the Russian law, but you said it was recent and that video is a year old (advantage - it was posted before Russia invaded Ukraine). [Failing to do this results is massive fines, which has been used effectively to shut down many critics.] Yeah, Russia has a number of pretty horrible laws (the one concerning the LGBTQ is particularly egregious). As I'm not familiar with the guy I was trying to decide if he's a disinformation agent or just another YouTuber since he does a lot of videos critical of Russia. Having said that, I think he's probably legit, based on the content I saw and the way he discussed the topics. [Feel free to quote me, if you're so certain of what I said about Georgian law.] You compared them. That's all I said. Anything else regarding that I said about the talking heads, not you. I just pointed out that the talking heads were ALSO making that same comparison, and they are bad faith actors. [Btw, he is located in Georgia, currently, so Georgia is sort of the topic, even when it isn't.] Not really. A video on the topic would be a video on the topic. I do find it interesting that he left Russia within a month after he posted that video about the foreign agent law. And yes, I did see that he had moved to Georgia, but I didn't really see any videos on Georgia specifically in the last month or so (although there were plenty when he first moved there).

4243.  @osmosis321  [That bit about James Smith is a nice bit of misdirection. I asked you to show where Reuters was unreliable, and all you did was attack the CEO.] It's not misdirection at all. I explicitly pointed out a conflict of interest, which of course didn't register with you because you're the 4 in 5. Reuters regularly does "fact checks". They're almost always incorrect and covering in one way or another for an establishment narrative. [Much as I'm sure you want innuendo to carry your position for you, that's not the same as showing the publication is unreliable.] There are too many examples to go through. Since you're willing to believe obvious lies, probably a waste of my time too. [Alex Berenson - Do you mean the man who Derek Thompson of The Atlantic dubbed The Pandemics Wrongest Man, citing numerous examples of him being wrong? That Alex Berenson? I just want to be clear we're talking about the same person.] Not sure, but probably the same guy if Derek Thompson is attacking him. Prove to me you fall for corporate news hacks without telling me you fall for corporate news hacks. A totally trustworthy publication that employs neocon apologists like David Frum. [Dr VInay Prasad - Yet another misinformation spreader. There's a decent article about him on Science Based Medicine.] So you've cited a non-scientific publication, owned by a Skeptic Society (not a science one) to refute a guy who actually produces science? I read one of their articles, their best refutation was to quote Steven Novella (also a skeptic), who is a clinical neurologist, and not once did any of his criticisms stab at the meat of what Dr. Prasad was saying. When both are scientists I would expect a more substantial focus on the science. Honestly that science student you used before has more credibility. [Ragasta Rintrah - I'm unable to find anything there.] Didn't look very hard then. [Last but not least, your jab about critical thinking is misplaced and it's something I've heard many times. Not from critical thinkers, mind you, but mainly from conspiracy theory believers who don't engage in any critical thinking.] Conspiracy factualists, if anything (especially in 2022 when so many "conspiracy theories" were proven correct). I just focus on the facts. You're the one that can't be bothered to engage when you hear the dog whistle. You also apparently have no awareness of the circular corporate sources you rely on. Do you also idolize Eric Feigl-Ding?

It's fun to believe the stories in the National Enquirer are true but we all know they are not.] All of the journalists reporting on the Twitter Files are accredited journalists with decades of experience. In fact, until they started to report on the Twitter files, they were praised as journalists. Hmmm. I wonder what changed? [ "Many observers, even among the crowd of Musk’s usual supporters, thought the drop was a flop. A New York Post columnist, Miranda Devine, told Tucker Carlson that the documents were “not really the smoking gun we’d hoped for.” ] Again, you're quoting an old article from just after only Twitter Files #1 dropped. There are now 14 separate filings, each building on the previous. This is not only disingenuous, this is a lie. [Conservative pundit Sebastian Gorka wrote on Truth Social, according to The Daily Beast, “So far, I’m deeply underwhelmed. We know the Dems in DC collude with the Dems in Palo Alto. Big Whop.” Joe Simonson, a reporter for the conservative news outlet The Washington Free Beacon, wrote that the “Twitter files [are] underwhelming so far. Just revealing what we already knew: Twitter was staffed by democrats who did the bidding of Democrats.” (Do they even do that?)" Politico] I already quoted you recent quotes from Gorka saying the exact opposite. Remember that? You want to know what the equivalent of the National Enquirer is? Politico. But you have no discernable critical thinking skills so why should anyone be surprised to see you copying and pasting the same nonsense over and over.

4830.  @jamesnoonan9302  [I'll explain from my perspective: My first comment was regarding how she was just trying to get her 15 minutes of fame, by doing something that would draw attention from the media, and wasn't a real effort to fight for any cause, because 1) it is well known phrase that has been used for quite some time. 2) the First Nations protestors sometimes carry signs with similar phrases 3) This was a basketball game, and she is there to do her job in singing the anthem, but because the spotlight was on her she wanted to keep it on her longer, by deliberately doing something controversial. I think it was more in line with things like what Colin Kaepernick did in the NFL by kneeling (which he was largely criticized for and payed a price for, as he was not included in the NFL for much longer although he was just a few years from being a pretty talented qb who went to the Superbowl, and I followed football very closely back then and he was still considered a low tear starting qb in the NFL, and QBs are very hard to find, so it is not normal to pass on someone talented enough to play the position.), so I think she was playing more to that type of crowd, than actually trying to fight for land rights that may not have been honored by the government. Also she is not suffering for doing this, so it doesn't seem like a legit protest, she is getting a little extra spotlight, and may be able to carry some fame just for being 'the girl who did that'. I watch news in Canada and I knew they love these kinds of stories, it is not like in the USA.] And I didn't disagree with any of this, nor was I trying to refute any of it. [Then yes I did have you confused with an ongoing argument I was having and reacted a little more than would be considered normal, because you were using a similar type of tactic someone else was using in another argument.] This certainly makes more sense. As for my "tactics".. if you say so. [I still don't know what you mean by "very Canadian indeed, a Celebrity no one has heard of". I don't know who she is, but I'm sure some people do, because she was chosen to sing the anthem.] No, they often pick someone local with the right pedigree. I assure you most Canadians have never heard of this person until now. [I'm not totally sure if you were using more of a joking tone when you said "very Canadian indeed", but because of the other argument, I did not even consider the tone, I just figured someone was still going very hard with prejudice.] There was indeed prejudice in my comment. The utter contempt with which our Canadian elites, promote talentless virtue signalers which was on full display. If you're somehow implying prejudice on any other basis, then you've misjudged me on that score. [I can't quite say "no harm, no foul" though, because I'm still not sure what you mean by this, and your other statement about Canada syphoning resources from talented artists. I'm not sure what type of instances you are referring to, because I know of no stories off the top of my head where this has happened.] Well if you're not familiar with the space, it doesn't always get a lot of attention. But sometimes artists will speak out and then you find out what the real deal is. The Canadian content guardians are a corrupt joke.

4854.  @derekeliopoulos2670  [Also I'd love to hear the "verbatim" line I apparently said and who I stole it from.] [it's a normal verdict that none would disagree] Your total lack of self awareness is probably part of the problem. [Who should I blame for the words you're borrowing?] Experts in constitutional law and ex-lawyers. You know, people that actually know what they're talking about. You can also blame court documentation because apparently, unlike you, I actually take the time to read on my own without being told what to think. Trump was [directly from court submission] "charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records of the first degree in violation of Penal Law 175.10". This is exactly why the Clinton campaign and the DNC were fined by the FEC. Over payments ultimately made to Fusion GPS ($8,000 and $105,000 respectively) regarding the Steele dossier (notice no jail time or felony conviction?). Ignoring the obvious conflict of interest by the judge shown throughout the trial and the constant corruption and bias in the rulings (e.g. gag order, jury instruction, etc.), there's no way any reasonable person would conclude that "it's a normal verdict that none would disagree with". Your comment is completely ignorant and false. That's not from a Trump supporter, that's just from people who actually know the law and aren't so full of TDS that they lie about it. Every single case brought against Trump so far has been legal nonsense, twisting the law in an attempt to frame him. In short, lawfare. Look up [Ramos v. Louisiana, 590 US __, 140 S Ct 1390, 206 L Ed 2d 583 (2020)] "The Court held that the Sixth Amendment to the United States Constitution required unanimous verdicts. This means that non-unanimous jury verdicts in felony cases are unconstitutional." Also, [Watkins v. Ackley], "the Oregon Supreme Court ruled that the Ramos ruling applies retroactively (going backwards) under state law. This means that anyone who had a non-unanimous jury conviction is entitled to a new trial". These are direct legal refutations to the jury instruction given by Merchan and what the lying media has been saying. And that's just one example of a series of violations throughout this trial and all the others.

5225.  @902DawgS  [proxy wars are actually good for us. It weakens russia.] They're not good for us. This idiotic neocon plan has backfired. Not only is Russia not weakened, it's been strengthened. It's also driven many other pariah countries into each other's arms. The collective west has put itself in danger and weakened itself. Potential trading partners (like India) are moving away from us, the US petrodollar is on a dramatic decline, and NATO has been weakened by draining all our military resources of ammunition without a way of quickly replacing it because most western countries have outsourced their manufacturing base to other countries. [Ukraine also has 40-50% of the world's neon and palladium which is used to make superconductors.] And this is the real reason for this war. When the "reconstruction" starts to "help rebuild Ukraine" Canada along with all NATO and western partners will descend to rob Ukraine of all its resources, and with the exception of the new oligarch class, the Ukrainians will be the losers. Same thing that's happened in every other country that's ever been touched by the west. Syria, Libya, Iraq, and Niger to name just a few. [Also, when they refer to "military aid costs" it doesn't truly cost what they say that is just a estimate. They aren't actually sending them 40 million dollars etc it's just military equipment which we decommission millions of dollars worth all the time.] True, not everything is in cash, but it's still an immense about of resources. NATO is supposedly a defensive alliance, so it should be a concern when you run out of ammo because you gave it to someone.

5280.  @guymontag2948  [We don't know that, any more than we know anything else. ] To which are you referring? That Ukrainians are killing other Ukrainians? Yes, we do. Plenty of news outlets have reported on it. [In a war zone, I assume that everyone is going to lie when it is convenient, so I just look at that which cannot be manipulated.] There's virtually nothing that cannot be manipulated. [The war is in Ukraine, therefore Russia is the aggressor. Full stop. All the incidents like this, who knows who did what? Not me and not you.] You think things just happen in a vacuum? There was a long history in Ukraine before you noticed it because there was a war there. The corporate news you trust so much relies on the fact that the average person doesn't actually know the history of Ukraine. And you know who knows what's happening in the Ukraine? The Ukrainians. They speak, I listen. That's how I know and you don't. Let me ask you something. The media has talked non-stop this past week or so about the great gains Ukraine has made. They have all the reasons why it happened. Russia was stretched too thin, it didn't manage its supply lines well, etc. etc. But they never ask or answer the important questions. What is the strategic value of what Ukraine has taken? What did it cost them to take it? Do you know the answer? Here's what I know. The Ukraine railroad is electric, so if they can't power it, that creates a whole host of problems. Ukraine currently has a surplus of energy, and a energy starved EU was hoping to get their hands on it to help deal with a winter that's coming that they don't have enough energy for. So what happens when Russia takes control of energy generation in the Ukraine? I don't claim to know all the answers, but I think I'm asking better questions then the ones you'll see on TV.

5451. @@metanomena [ While you make some fair points at a certain level of concern, the actual problem is global governance, post nationalism, neo-colonization. This situation has been created on purpose pursuant to UN Agenda 2030, and the 17 SDG's of which the global migration compacts were a part. The global migration compacts ensure regular migration among Sustainable Development nations and facilitation of refugees being distributed among developed nations. In this case it's the UN Trafficking people. Moving them around to manipulate and force change in the nations that they're being sent to. Canada is unique, it's flanked by 3 ocean shores and the US to the south. It's far enough north, with mostly developed nations as close neighbours, so there are no refugees getting here by boat. The only way in is by foot essentially via the US. This is why the post national government of Canada and the US allowed the illegal crossings into Quebec. Because it helped Canada meet its quotas by their migration compact agreements/obligations.] Yes. I believe everything you said is likely accurate. However intention is hard to nail down, so I try to stick to the facts where possible. I can make the claim of cheap labour because we can clearly see how the treatment of a refugee changes once they become a citizen and they instantly become LESS desirable. We can see the effects you're describing in countries that don't have a natural geographic advantage like Canada does. Viewing what has been going on in the UK, despite the Brexit vote to leave the EU, and the massive efforts to prevent British sovereignty in all areas but especially when it comes to immigration, despite the very clear intention of the voting citizenry is telling. Because the problem is more dire, there is more push back, but it's already been a long, hard road for people looking to fix the problems there. In Canada, most of the citizenry don't even think there is a problem yet.

5553.  @charlottewenzel2005  [how so. He’s a convicted rapist and serial sex offender at the very least of his crimes. He’s a convict.] All nonsense. I've read the actual court documents when it comes to the trial and followed it closely (unlike most people who read the headlines and skip the rest). There was a whole lot of nonsense surrounding that trial start to finish, beginning with the fact that they literally created a law to prosecute him in New York to get around the statute of limitations. Then the law expired after it was used, not allowing anyone else to use it. Convenient, eh? They bragged about their New York connections in CNN interviews. Do you think that most people think of g(r)ape as "sexy"? Because the so called "victim" did, right before CNN cut to commercial. Then they allowed heresy in the courtroom as evidence, which is never remotely allowed in a criminal trial (this due to the corrupt judge and civil statutes used instead of an actual criminal trial so that they could reduce the threshold of beyond a reasonable doubt). The "victim" didn't even need to name the year in which the so called assault took place. What possible defense can you provide when the accuser can't tell you when the event happened, and the judge rules it doesn't matter? And finally, the actual judge directed verdict to the jury that contradicted the legal statutes just to get the conviction. Believe it or not, a jury is not only supposed to agree on guilty or not guilty but to make that decision on each charge (the judge instead told the jury they could choose the guilty charges like a salad bar and then amalgamate them all). And by the way, you should probably read the court documents too, because the jury clearly said he didn't g(r)ape anyone. That's literally an actual verdict question they said no to. Harris on the other hand, prosecuted criminals for things like weed, concocted evidence, and refused a direct court order to release wrongfully imprisoned citizens (most of whom were Black) so that the prison system had free labour (this according to her own words). (And there's a lot more than that, but I digress.) You literally don't know what you're talking about.

5723.  @darlene2709  I agree with the general thrust of what you're saying but you need to acknowledge the flaws that are being exploited as well. [Immigrants are not leeching from the system.] No, but plenty human traffickers are, and they're gaming the immigration system to do it. Wealthy immigrants also game the system in any number of ways. For example, travelling to Canada to give birth, before returning home. [Canada resettles refugees to save lives and to provide stability to those fleeing persecution with no hope of relief.] This is irrelevant. No country is obligated to open it's borders to the world solely to provide a handout. It's ridiculous to expect it. [The immigration regulations introduced in 1967 established new standards for assessing potential immigrants and determining admissibility. According to the new provisions, independent immigrants were assigned points in specific categories relating to their ability to successfully settle in Canada. Immigrants have job and language skills.] The point system is constantly being gamed for the exploitation of immigrants. Have you ever noticed how exotic dancers somehow get very high score as a necessary worker? And employers also exploit their labour by sponsoring them, then paying them less than what a Canadian would make, and the moment they dare to actually apply for Canadian citizenship they fire them. Bottom line, our immigration system is being used as a source of cheap labour and there are plenty of other areas of collateral damage that occurs because of this exploitation and greed, not least of which is the additional stress on an already tight housing market. [Asylum seekers (in Canada use the term refugee claimant) have the legal right to cross the border and enter Canada to make a refugee claim. Asylum seekers are crossing irregularly – between ports of entry - but that is not illegal. They are doing so because the Safe Third Country Agreement (2004) between Canada and the United States requires Canada to send refugee claimants back to the U.S., with a few exceptions. The Safe Third Country Agreement applies only to refugee claims made at border crossings.] Canada is receiving significant numbers of illegal immigrants crossing from the US to Canada and that number is increasing because the government is not dealing with the problem. Apparently it's racist to secure a country's borders. [Through its refugee protection system, Canada offers a safe haven to people with a well-founded fear of persecution and people who are outside of their country and cannot return because of that fear of persecution.] Yes, and sometimes this is a good thing. But there should be exceptions made to those that produce fear here. There was a recent story of an immigrant that raped 40 women and the government refused to send them back because they faced violence in their home country. That little irony should be lost on no one. [Financial support can last up to one year after a refugee arrives in Canada, or until they can support themselves, whichever occurs first. Special needs clients selected under the Joint Assistance Sponsorship Program may get Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP) income support for 24 months. Most government-assisted refugees, however, receive financial help for 12 months or less.] This is one of the big flaws in the system that is used to exploit cheap labour. The government makes big promises, under spends, and it's the charities and non-profits that make up the bulk of not just funding, but take on the majority of the task of integrating new Canadians into society. There are many legitimate flaws in the system. The outbursts from Canadians whose lives are harder because of them may be misdirected but that doesn't mean it's unwarranted.

5947.  @johnlacey3857  Thanks to Trudeau, Canada has been moving towards a lot of the elements that China uses. A few examples: 1)Persecuting Store Owners who try to defend themselves from Criminals (not that this is new). 2)Disarming law abiding citizens so they can't protect themselves, and introducing legislation to criminalize citizens that don't comply (China's already done that). 3)Use the police as their own personal gestapo to politicize basic expressions of rights and harass and jail accused members of the public who are then charged with "mischief" and "conspiracy to promote mischief" but treated as if they're capital offenders - denying them bail, etc etc. And that's when they're not using a pretext to invoke the Emergencies Act to completely violate Canadian Charter rights. One Liberal MP actually said in parliament that "Honk Honk means Heil Hitler". 4)Turning Canadians against each other by telling them that anyone who doesn't comply with their Government mandates are basically horrible people who put everyone at risk (all based on lies, of course). 5)New controls on media including the introduction of the QCJO incentive - now every journalist can be bought with money, not just the CBC. Bet the Xinhua news agency is close to jealously. 6)New controls on social media, controlling what Canadians see. 7)New controls on money, especially anyone dependent of government funds like Employment Insurance. 8)The introduction of legislation in the education system that, in practical terms, easily compares to the Mao thought and the rise of the student Red Guard. Sure, Canada isn't China yet, but boy does Trudeau admire the CCP and wishes it was. He's working hard to make it happen.

6113.  @checkfactschecking  [There was no lack of supply in 2019.] Wrong. This has been a decades long problem that has steadily gotten worse. We have the lowest supply of housing in the G8 and we have the greatest amount of land. Yes, deep pockets scooping up what's available to keep raising the price IS part of the problem, but again, rent controls doesn't stop that problem as they can profit in other ways. And why would it be a problem bigger in Canada then any other G8 nation? [Your idea about a crown corporation in charge of low cost housing is already in place, but provincially. Ontario Housing produces slums that fall apart.] These are places for rent, not ownership from my understanding. And they're a drop in the bucket. And development around housing has never actually been about housing with the PC government or any other government. The latest overture from the PCs basically amounted to an excuse to open up the Greenbelt to development. It was never a serious solution to address housing. [Make renting houses and condos unprofitable would free up all those houses people are hoarding.] I wish I was as confident as you are that this won't have unintended consequences that are as bad or worse than the disease. Adding more to the overall supply would do the same thing in reducing prices, especially if the government did as I suggested with a crown corporation, producing houses for sale largely at cost, and then capped income on who was allowed to purchase them to make sure the purchasers are buying to use. Perhaps that's something that could be written into the contract condition - you must live in the house for X amount of years as your primary residence.

6242.  @funnyadvancedtalks  [you don't know me.] Oh the "you don't know me", cousin to the " do you know who I am??" You don't know me either. [And it doesn't matter if she's a minor, she's a young adult. In any other country she'd go to juvenile detention for serving a sentence in prison, basically as she was detained by Israel. You can't randomly stab police officers... ] Except this isn't America, or any other place. This is Gaza. The largest open air prison in the world, not my words, the words of Israeli Government officials. It's a concentration camp with a long history that goes back much further than Oct 7. You either don't understand any of that, or you're just being willfully ignorant. [Also, you're being hypocrital because the video also doesn't say it wasn't her lol but if it wasn't her, how many teenager ladies are stabbing police officers on camera?] Let's take this from the top. Mahyar posts another uncritical hate post but provides no specifics or facts. I point this out. I'm then accused of not providing facts for rebuttal when you can't refute something without the specifics and facts. I therefore challenge those demanding "proof" to provide the specifics contained within the Mahyar video so that proof can be definitively obtained. And you know what I get? Crickets, ad hominem, and excuses from people like you. You even repeat a lot of the poor thinking talking points perfectly outlined in Mahyar's videos, illustrating my point. [Perhaps you just learn to think before you speak 😐] You clearly need to take your own advice. You're really bad at thinking.

6254.  @darlene2709  [The "face diapers" and other health measures helped.] No, they didn't. Most people wore cloth masks that did nothing AND they wore them improperly. Masking CAN work if you have the right mask, right fit, and wear it properly - but apparently the average citizen is incapable of that. As for "other health measures" - plenty of things, like social distancing, did nothing and weren't based on solid scientific grounds. [Vaccines have been available for two years. The majority has spoken by getting vaccinated.] You mean the government coercion? Yes, we've established the government is capable of exerting tremendous pressure using a variety of methods to get meek Canadians to do what they're told, even if it's not necessarily in their best interest. [It is time to move on. We should not need to mandate anything going forward. Anyone who is not vaccinated yet is probably not going to be.] True, and yet the government still complains about a lack of compliance and continues their coercion campaign by funding ridiculous, unscientific studies (like the latest one indicating that people that don't get vaccinated are somehow more at risk of accidents on the road). [Unvaccinated losers who die from COVID-19 get what they deserve.] Remember to tell that to the people that were on the front lines when there was no vaccine. Amazing how the same people once deemed heroes are now demonized by people like you for making a personal choice. A number of people have had very serious health consequences as a result of the vaccine, including some deaths. I hope you're right in your assumption that it won't go beyond a few, but no one really knows what the accumulation of spikey proteins will ultimately do to healthy people. People like you seem completely unaware of the risks of extra boosters.

6383.  @Sekiberius24  [ "Chinese technological capabilities are exaggerated." You say that as if most of the things in the world are not produced in China,] Because the world has allowed it, but there's nothing special about China that enabled that. Also, a lot of that production is cheap refurbishment or outright stolen technology. [I also think you are severely underestimating Chinese education and research. Education in China is brutal, with test after test after test with equally brutal grading, your average Chinese student heavily exceeds the typical American student and it is no wonder why.] If you truly understood the educational system you would know that their high scores are mostly just a reflection of their studying for the test. Truth is there is very little creativity or innovation among Chinese students. They're very good at copying and reverse engineering, but that kind of education doesn't lead to being a world leader. [Underestimating the Chinese is a folly, there's a reason pretty much every country on earth is wary of China, well that and the fact that every economy on earth is cripplingly dependent on Chinese manufacturing.] They're wary of the sheer size of their population, which should give anyone pause. Also, they're a nuclear power. Their potential is tremendous. But having said that, they'll never reach it. [Countries have given China way too much leverage over their own that if China really does want to become the largest global power, the rest can't really even stop them, not without crumbling their own economies in the process.] There's actually a lot they can do, but they won't need to do it. The CCP is so horribly corrupt they've self-sabotaged any possibility of ever achieving their potential. China is already on the decline and will be in serious crisis in 10 years. This actually makes them more dangerous, but not because they can hurt world economies. Other nations will just move their manufacturing to other countries - it's already happening. [I got off topic, anyways, China has observation satellites and it is known fact, and there's no reason to believe their satellites can't do the same things ours can.] Yep, they do. And they DO things ours don't, like attack other satellites with weapons. But they also break down more. [They don't even need satellites to know everything about anything, everything that's anything can be discovered through the internet and it's users data, which every single government on earth takes advantage of anyways.] Some things just aren't on the internet, but I generally agree. [It's really just a competition of who can create an AI advanced enough to compile the exact information you need the fastest.] Well if history is any indication, they'll need to steal that technology because they seem incapable of developing it on their own. What we've seen so far is just the utilization of their massive manpower, which is considerable.

6487.  @bradcanning875  [No because Trudeau can't do a thing about it now. This is a corporate run world. What is being called inflation is not inflation like we saw in the 80s. This is big consumer spending and record jobs.] Although I agree they're not identical in terms of the make-up of said inflation, I don't agree that this time it's limited to consumer spending and jobs. As always, inflation is a basket of a bunch of things and it's definitely not record job growth because if that was a major factor then wage growth would be stronger than it is. And I don't blame Trudeau entirely for inflation (obviously there are things beyond his control) but there are definitely things his government could be doing to ease it, and instead, he's chosen the most destructive path (literally demand destruction). [Most revealing is it's tripled profits for corporations. Corporations were handed control and disposed of the unions 20 years ago while people cheered it on. Now they pay the price.] Absolutely agree with you. No arguments here. The increasing monopolization of capital by a few elite corporatists is an inherently corrosive phenomenon that is destroying the country at all levels. [Do you actually believe Trudeau runs our economy? People are so divided the corporate masters laugh at left wing movements. I didn't vote for Trudeau and don't like him but the alternative is who sold us out and will again. There is a reason Canadians band together to keep the right out of power. It sure isn't because they like Trudeau.] No, I don't think Trudeau runs the economy. But what used to be garden variety graft, has changed to something worse. First it was multi-national corporations who sought to exploit labour and resources wherever they could in the world, with no loyalty to any one country. Now we have a multi-national organization, the WEF, that is a multi-national lobbying group that does what the average lobbying would love to do. Literally re-make the world for their own benefit (of course, always cloaking themselves in benevolence and convincing you that they care about the causes you do, like the environment, but it's all a foil). Trudeau and at least half his cabinet (according to Klaus Schwab) aren't just puppets of corporate interests, they're traitors to Canada. As for the "right", you've bought into a false-dichotomy if you think the "left" is any better. Just as the right mistakenly believe the economic policy promises are good for them, so too does the left convince themselves people like Trudeau or Jagmeet Singh are on their side. I only would support a Conservative government to block a government that literally sells out Canadians. The reason that Trudeau is bad isn't because Harper is good. It's because Trudeau is too much like Harper! Obviously, my preference is a 3rd option but those are a bit in short supply.

There are women, for example, that the BBC spoke to who were specifically left out in their hit job because they had positive things to say about Brand. 6761.  @guymontag2948  [ I looked at precipitation in northern BC as an excellent example and found that 2019 and 2020 were both wet years, so there weren't too many fires in the region. Since then, it's been much drier, the effect of which is cumulative.] Yes, but drier why. You're saying that it's all temperature, which is only a component. [Now that everything is bone dry, not only is everything very easy to ignite, there's more lightning, as well. It's really not complicated.] Except you're forgetting something. [Besides, do you actually believe that this army of eco-arsonists is able to rapidly and frequently penetrate the most inaccessible places in the country but that they were being completely thwarted by almost totally unenforced travel restrictions?] No, I don't believe that every man-made fire is due to arson, although arson does take place. I wouldn't even necessarily go so far as to say the majority of man-made fires are arson. Usually it's not adhering to safety standards and outright stupidity. [As to whatever you're trying to say, is it that if you stop man-made fires, naturally occurring fires will increase in frequency? That's my best guess, and that makes no sense. I swear, my comprehension skills are actually pretty solid. Maybe you can find better words.] Then let me explain it. Again. There's a snowball effect when you have a forest fire. The fire dries out the forest and leads to being increasingly susceptible to further forest fires. In other words, the more fires you have, the more fires you're going to get - naturally occurring or otherwise. When you know that people are not a component you get a much better picture of what is going on with naturally occurring fires and they don't match the hysteria being claimed regarding climate change. It's not at all unreasonable to conclude that the problem is poor forest management, and even if that isn't the primary reason, still good policy to pursue to mitigate the problem. And yet, not only is the government refusing, it is actively stopping people from doing this ON THEIR OWN LAND. Why would they do this? Just too much bureaucracy? Maybe. We don't really know why, but when you look at every other lever being used to focus on climate hysteria it's very clear that the goal is to exaggerate and generate fear. We know, for example via undercover camera, that the CNN had planned to hype up the climate change hysteria long before they did it. And everyone matched them - likely for the same reasons. They've been changing maps from green to red, despite the temperature numbers being COLDER this year from a year over year comparison. We're told the temperatures are hitting record highs, but aren't told that they take these measurements from the surface (which is much hotter) rather than the standard 2 meters of air from the ground. The media has been caught red-handed doing these things. Are you really this blind to the exaggeration? I would question EVERY claim of climate change in this kind of media environment. The fires could very well be a result of climate change, but as there is a perfectly good alternative explanation, I'd rather investigate that first then swallow an obviously constructed narrative wholesale.

6943.  @thesupremeveggieburger427  [no surprise here your wrong , its not politics and close contact is how its contracted , infected bed sheets hand rails and especially prolonged exposure but if no one ( like you) takes it seriously their just going to spread it on public transit and places.] No, that's one of the lies. The likelihood of picking it up from objects, while possible, is very unlikely. Doubly unlikely if you take basic hyenine like washing your hands seriously. You would know that if you listened to anyone with any credibility. [Spreading it to a more diverse group of hosts , its NOT political, that train of thought is toxic Paranoid Government Disorder , you fear federal government SO much you think their orchestrating viruses , for what ? To undermine the work force and economy they rely on ? Seems precarious and irrational.] This government has a history of fear pr0n. When you're not afraid of the beer bug or an animal pox, you're hiding from all the "gun violence" in Canada, so who are you kidding? And the fact that there are vaccines for sale probably doesn't register at all with you, right? No financial incentive unless they come out and tell you there's money involved (even though it's obvious money is always involved)? And since you brought it up, why do YOU think with inflation out of control the government thinks it's a good idea to impose sanctions on farmers, creating a further food shortage (and exasperating a global food one). Are you really convinced it's just "good for the environment"? [You need pull your head out of the sand] Your head is firmly stuffed somewhere darker and smellier.

7158.  @good2goskee  [Sure but small businesses do not have $10M lines of credit or can spread their losses to different regions not effected by the strike which are profiting.] They have multiple ways to stave off disaster, I agree, but I'm pretty sure every part of their business is hurting. [Regardless, low value skilled labour, which are being replaced by robots in Korean and Singaporean ports, should not be able to demand 165k per year which is more than highly skilled professionals and put the economy at risk.] [A skill-set of 7-11 workers or a regular receptionist do not warrant wages that are higher than the average lawyer. Enough of this none sense of holding the economy hostage... AUTOMATION] Who says? The economy is buyers and sellers and they negotiate. This is the power of unions - they are the flipside of the same coin of what corporate market concentration does. You can't criticize the labour side but give a pass to the corporate side. They're using their leverage the same way, fair and square. I agree at some point automation will come into play, but that's for workers and employers to figure out. If they already had everything worked out, they would just implement it - all the more reason to strike now and not later. There's no reason to agree that that is not a good reason to strike because the corporate talking point says it's inevitable. If workers accepted the wisdom of these greedy liars they would never achieved the salary they have now. You should be taking notes and asking why you're not doing the same thing. [Didn't Trudeau move the police in on vaccine protestors at the US border in a day or two in the name of preserving the economy?... Seems like a double standard.] Yes he did, also at the behest of the US I might add, which was a much more motivating factor. And Trudeau IS a hypocrite, so why would a double standard surprise you? At the end of the day I'm fine with the government forcing a settlement to get things moving again, my only complaint is for them to squarely blame workers. Why not blame the greedy employers for not giving the workers what they want? They are just as culpable in holding things up and hurting the economy but somehow they get a pass. I expect binding arbitration is coming.

7159.  @good2goskee  [Who says a 7-11clerk warrants the same wages as an average lawyer? Are you seriously asking me that? Common sense and the law answers the question.. that's who] The law answers that? lol No, it doesn't. You're so used to engaging in assumptions without thinking you clearly haven't thought it all the way through. [Common sense.... a young lawyer could stop his practice today and it is reasonable to assume with 6mos of on the job training he could run a a 7-11 convenience store and positively contribute. The reverse cannot happen. A 7-11 clerk who does not have a law degree cannot earn one and positively contribute as a lawyer in 6 mos. So, there is no way these low-skilled jobs (including port warehouse workers) warrant those high wages. A guy at Amazon making less than $20 per hour has the same skill set as a port worker making 165K per year. Common sense....] Plenty of low skilled, low educated people have found massive success in business, sports, and the arts despite all that because they leveraged the things they did have. Your argument is a false one as you're comparing apples to oranges and attempting to make an appeal to a utopian perfection that doesn't exist. Hunter Biden got paid millions with no experience because his father was Joe Biden and for no other reason. Bottom line is, the market negotiation dictates the price and your conclusions about wrong or right don't enter into it. Common sense means employing knowledge as it actually is, not just what you would like it to be. If you have a problem with the morality of it all, which seems to be the case, then going back to THE VERY FIRST THING I TOLD YOU - you're being a hypocrite by focusing on one side of the negotiation and not the other. Yeah, try some common sense.

7205.  @guymontag2948  [ You seem to be completely unable to grasp nuance. Either that, or you're simply giving a bad faith argument. Agreeing to a common set of principles isn't the same as working for someone. I'd say it in more words, but it's an incredibly basic concept.] You're the one who isn't able to read between the lines. Rules like this are always written vaguely enough so that the people in power can interpret it whatever way they like in order to get their way. This is also why we have so many poorly written laws, and for the same reason. You still seem to think that every nefarious intention will simply be exposed by someone putting it explicitly in writing (or they will come out and TELL you explicitly). How old are you? Do you have zero life experience?? [I'm really not sure that you do, but If you want more examples, you could do as I suggested and actually read the supply and confidence agreement.] You assumed I hadn't read it, but I did. I would have thought you would have realized that without me telling you by my response. It follows the standard with nothing that jumps out at me. [You'll find plenty there, and that's without even looking at the many historical examples] My previous comment stands. Show me something the Liberals wouldn't have already done themselves that the NDP forced them to do and I'll concede the point. If you're unable to do that, then you have to concede you're wrong. [I really don't want to have to do all your research for you.] Between the two of us, considering your total lack of knowledge on an array of topics, I'm confident you do very little research even for yourself.

7220.  @darlene2709  Statement by H.E. Gotabaya Rajapaksa President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka UN Food Systems Summit 23 September 2021 Date: Thursday, 23 September 2021 Statement by H.E. Gotabaya Rajapaksa President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka UN Food Systems Summit 23 September 2021 Mr. Secretary General, Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen, It gives me great pleasure to participate in this Virtual Plenary today. At the outset, I appreciate the Secretary General’s decision to convene this Summit and commend his Special Envoy Dr. Agnes Kalibata for her stewardship of the inclusive process leading up to it. This summit takes place at an important time. The pandemic has exposed weaknesses in global food systems that will only be worsened with climate change. It is therefore essential that all stakeholders work together to transform global food systems to be more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive. Sustainable food systems are part of Sri Lanka’s rich sociocultural and economic heritage. Our more recent past, however, saw increasing use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and weedicides that led to adverse health and environmental impacts. My Government took the bold step to restrict imports of these harmful substances earlier this year. However, changing the mindset of farmers long accustomed to using chemical fertiliser has proven challenging. So too has the production of sufficient quantity of organic fertiliser domestically. Sri Lanka welcomes technical assistance and bilateral support in this regard. Fostering organic agriculture is part of a wider programme that includes enhancing market oriented inclusive food value chains to reduce rural poverty. Through such improvements, I am confident Sri Lanka will be able to sustainably transform its food system and ensure greater food security and better nutrition for its people. Sri Lanka appreciates the technical assistance of the Food and Agriculture Organisation and the World Food Programme, and the support of other global organisations and scientific bodies in this regard. As leaders our aim must be to ensure a better future for our people and our planet. The challenges we face are universal, and we must work together to find solutions to them. I trust that today’s Summit will help facilitate the transformation of the global food system to one that can better foster the health of both humanity and our planet. Thank you.

7318.  THE LAST ACTION NƎGRO  1) You claim arrogance but can’t dispute fact. It’s amazing to me that the superstitious can’t make a distinction between actual knowledge and their own litany of ridiculously flawed logical fallacies (of which there are many). You don’t have your own personal truth no matter how much you may feel you do. The more you FEEL you’re right, the greater the indicator you’re not. The Scientific Method is about trying to divest oneself of any kind of bias in order to make the best possible interpretation of evidence. Religion appears to take on every form of bias available to defend itself as if it somehow provides an argument even greater support. 2) Are we talking about actual scientists or science popularizers who don’t have a very good understanding of the science they’re promoting? And if a “professor” claims to not “believe” in evolution but they refuse to actually address, with evidence, what part they think is wrong, they (and you) have completely misunderstood what it means to be a scientist and are not qualified to comment on it. Yes, to a certain extent you can say in some cases modern science can be politicized, but every claim you make thereafter is quite a stretch as you certainly haven’t made the case for anything remotely approaching religious architecture, and certainly not that people worship it as a God – that’s patently absurd and clearly untrue. And actually, no, I don’t think an Atheist is “immune to indoctrination of popular culture” but you haven’t proven that, a) this is a stand in for a religion that informs one on how to live, or b) that this MUST be the result because of a lack of belief in something else. FYI, “Luciferianism” is not a thing. 3) Yes, Evolution is not dogmatism. If you actually understood it (which you clearly don’t) that would be obvious. The more new things we know about the world, the more developed the Theory of Evolution is. Completely unrelated fields of study, making new discoveries that bolster the Theory, is solid evidence of its veracity and that the Theory (although not quite perfect) is definitely on the right track and is largely, if not wholly, true. This is exactly the opposite of making claims to knowledge without evidence (which is what religion does). Ask yourself how “wisdom” like the Bible can offer itself up as knowledge and a teaching instrument on how to live and yet can’t find in itself to offer up anything useful like “boil your water before you drink it” nor advance a superior moral argument (like slavery is bad and should not happen). To the contrary, every commentary is constrained by the people who wrote them (even to the point where we have an entire chapter written in the Bible that will tell you how a Christian should treat their slaves, but fail to tell you why a Christian should have slaves at all). 4) No. You’re an expert in world salad. You can’t draw a link from one to the other without a leap in logic and a general intellectual dishonesty. Also, it’s common for the meanings of words to change over time so you can’t necessarily look at a word and claim the modern meaning draws from the older definition. One example would be the word “gay”. An educated person would know this used to mean happy, but even an uneducated person knows what its common usage is now. 5) I didn’t say that one belief can’t replace another, I said you can’t guarantee what the replacement belief will be. But you seem to be making the case again and again that you KNOW (because religious people always know without actually knowing) what it will be. I’m not really interested in teaching you about religion, even if you were open to it. I don’t care about what people believe or don’t believe as long as their ignorance doesn’t infect the rest of us. Besides, how could I possible teach you anything when you have all the answers already?

7324.  @Spearmint22425  Ok, so I did watch the video (I apologize for the lengthy response). This video is specifically addressing the comments made by CosmicSkeptic (which might differentiate from my own). I tried to keep this brief (and failed) because a lot of the critique goes back and forth and often doesn’t address what either is saying. For example, the first argument about God being the first slave owner – I agree with WDYM that this is a poor argument, but I’m sure CosmicSkeptic is making it because many Christian apologists have made this same claim in their defense of “good slavery”. So it’s not for WDYM to defend something he doesn’t actually believe himself (assuming that’s the case), but it would be disingenuous to say this isn’t one of the arguments being used. Whenever this topic comes up people repeat this ridiculous notion that there’s a good and bad kind of slavery. Slavery is slavery. Treating people like property is something I have a moral problem with. We can debate the finer points of what type of slavery is worse, but the point is moot if we can agree they’re all bad. When apologists dig down to the root word and try to say the Hebrew word actually means labour or work, what they’re doing is intentionally ignoring the context that this is not labour or work by choice. You are still property. That, by definition is slavery. That is why MOST translations translate the word to slavery. The argument for voluntary slavery is also disingenuous as those people were literally forced into that situation usually by economic forces beyond their control (meaning it wasn’t truly voluntary – more like I-hold-a-gun-to-your-head-and-you-agree-to-what-I-tell-you voluntary). And incidentally, slavery (as we know it) was a definition the church was only too happy to promote when it suited them. The Bible and it’s meaning has been comprised since it’s inception. If you’re interested in a source that actual biblical scholars use for a quick reference, try biblehub.com. You can look up any biblical line and compare across translations. I would also draw your attention to the Berean Literal Bible translation (you can find more about it at https://literalbible.com/). It’s an attempt to get to the original meanings throughout it’s entire translation. I’m not an expert in linguistics but the reality is that most of the people claiming ridiculous things like the word slave doesn’t mean slave are apologists who are interested in protecting the reputation of the church, not the truth of the Bible. So when it served their purposes slave meant slave, but now that it’s a dirty word they claim it means something else. This bait and switch is common among “scholars”. Look at the various translations of Ephesians 6:5. https://biblehub.com/ephesians/6-5.htm See how many times the word is translated as slave? That’s how it was understood. Let’s assume that everything the apologists say are true and that hundreds of years of practicing a specific interpretation of the bible was wrong but NOW we know the truth. It doesn’t change the fact that this was how it was understood. I don’t see how you can look at that and see this as a defense. To me it’s proof that they just want the Bible to mean whatever they say it means. And this is a practice that’s existed since the Bible was first created. And to be perfectly clear. I’m not interested in a technical debate, I’m interested in the moral argument. If you’re telling me the Bible is a moral instrument to inform me on moral choices there are any number of topics for which it fails. Take rape, for example. Is the next apologetics argument that there’s a good and bad type of rape? Is everything perfectly fine as long as I pay the father 5 pieces of silver and then marry a girl I’ve raped? Bottom line is, the Bible is largely the writings of superstitious, illiterate, iron-age peasants and then hijacked by corrupt officials to further their own power. You can obtain superior moral direction from other secular sources from the same time period or older (ask yourself why the most popular secular philosophical sect of it's time - headed by Epicurus - was shut down by the Romans). There’s no reason to hold up the Bible as a book of superior life instruction other than the fact that you’ve been indoctrinated to think so. To your comment that the bible can be used for good or evil – yes, I agree. Because the interpretation changes with the culture that surrounds it. But I don’t think that’s a good way to go about things because the fundamentalist view will always have the superior Biblical interpretation. To live a more moral life, you literally have to be a bad Christian.

7429.  @CassieAngelica  [had they not been innocent, he would have been able to concisely answer the questions asked by reporters...] He did actually. Listen to the Twitter Space audio. It's the guilty journalists that waffled when asked if they had copied a link that enabled doxxing: Pseudo-journalist -"uh, no, I didn't post any address information" Musk - "You posted a link to the banned material. Clever little tricks like this is ban evasion and will still get you banned." Pseudo-journalist-"But muh Hunter Biden's laptop!" Give me a break. [and, as Ben Shapiro called some of them “pseudo-journalists”, calmly and concisely without storming out of the call.] [Also, he reinstated these accounts after two polls he did which slanted the bias strongly in favour leaving them banned, and people still voted to reinstate them.] "Storming" in and out of the call is a matter of interpretation (although I don't think it's an accident Twitter Space went down immediately after. And they ARE pseudo-journalists. They're corporate liars and were already hellbent on writing hit pieces about Musk, so why be nice to them? The very reason they posted the links that got them ban was to needle Elon. Well, mission accomplished. And quite frankly, they're a bunch of whiners - the bans were temporary (Elon put up a poll with either an immediate return or a 7 day ban -- none of the options involved anything permanent or particularly long lasting so where do you get that from?). [Also, I heard that no police report was filed after the incident described. Now, I don’t know whether that’s true, but that has been claimed by many reporting on the incident.] Who cares if there is or isn't a police report? The issue is they were banned for doxxing. Are you now trying to say it isn't doxxing unless additional criminal activity happens? Someone has to get hurt? A police action has to occur? You and I both know that if it comes to that, the doxx has already done the damage and it's too late. The whole reason to ban doxxing is to PREVENT harm. If the police don't ultimately get involved, it's still not proof that the potential for serious violence wasn't there.
