This is frustrating and the cause of many terrible events but I know how Putin rose to power, how the siloviki enabled him, and I don't see how the average Russian could have stopped it. We just cannot ever let this happen again at all costs.

  21. It's funny but Russia is the largest nation in the world. No matter what happens, there will always be NATO bases near it somewhere. Or others. Why is Russia so big? After 1400, something happened. Then it happened again in 2014 and 2022. Seems like those bases are necessary. I think Russians should elect a woman because every man who has been leader of Rus has been terrible. Literally, terrible. Ivan the terrible.

The USA stopped global pirates from looting international shipping. Right? First Barbary War lasted from 1801 to 1805 and was the first naval engagement of the USA. This was a benefit to the whole world.

  25.  @anyname9117  There would have to be a huge change in the political leadership of Belarus first, they'd have to cancel contracts with Russia to which Russia would respond aggressively (but maybe can't after being destroyed in Ukraine), and then Belarus would be able to apply. I hope it could happen.

They're talking about propaganda in every country but there's nothing like the disinformation coming out of Russia and this appears to be a centuries long pattern of gaslighting others, invading, exterminating. The USA did it too briefly in our history, we admit, we confess, we repent, we're upset about it, we fight to never repeat these things. Right? But in Russia, it seems there are too many using tactics of gaslighting, projection, playing victim, whataboutisms, and blaming others and so the cycle of Russian imperialism never stops.

  43.  @neverdie1812  It's very strange because in the Western countries, we admit our imperialist past and we work to fix that and change it. Russians just rewrite their history to play the victim and to blame everybody else. Meanwhile, Russia is the largest nation in the world and that didn't happen because people wanted to join Western Russia. Now people want to join NATO and the EU but Russians play victim. This is just a real mess. My Russian friend only just this week learned and admitted that Kremlin has an army of bots/trolls to gaslight the world. I am impressed with her but wow did it take a long time to see that.
