Reagan said "Our nation is a nation of immigrants. More than any other country, our strength comes from our own immigrant heritage and our capacity to welcome those from other lands".

@alpacaofthemountain8760 It's true. Think of all the talent we refuse to let stay here after they graduate from our top universities.

@freneticness6927 Nope. Reagan said the moment we stop welcoming new Americans, that's when our leadership in the world will be lost.

"Immigrant populations in these states doubled..." Do you know how white it is in my Red state? "Doubled" is almost nothing here. It's sad that the white grievances that gave us an orange fascist were largely because of xenophobia and racism. I cannot imagine my country lacking diversity. This is the best country in the world because of that diversity!

@shinjishinjs6060 Bro, Reagan was speaking specifically to Southern border immigrants. Those aren't from Europe. He was very clearly speaking about our brothers and sisters south of the border.
2
@adamsmith1813 But Reagan was talking about immigrants from our Southern border. He was talking about massive amounts of people too, all coming here, working, paying into Social Security, and then leaving when they wanted to but he also argued if they are here long enough then they should have a simple pathway to citizenship.

@imperialhonorguard1483 So what you're saying is that you can type really stupid things just fine wearing that white pointed sheet?

@BigBoiiLeem Oh the Republicans are horrible now. They're motivated by racism and xenophobia- but worse, their voters are too. I know the legal process for immigrants and it's ridiculous. We're shooting our own foot here.
1
@kordellswoffer1520 So you're just flat out xenophobic and probably racist?
1
@DefianceOrDeath That's why the rule of law protects human rights within the USA. So it doesn't matter what bad thing you imagine people come here with, it doesn't apply once inside the USA. Immigrants from all over the world made America great and continue to do so despite your xenophobia and I presume racism.
