Since when did anybody, anywhere, attempt to hire somebody who wasn't "the best candidate for the job" simply based on diversity? Plain and simple, what you just said is kinda racist and sexist because you make it sound like all diversity hires were not the best candidate for the job.

@joehfletcher LISTEN TO ME: You don't understand how this works. NOBODY ANYWHERE AT ANY POINT is asking to hire unqualified people based on race. NOT ONE PERSON. You don't understand how racist it is what you just wrote. The concept, and I don't understand how you missed it, is to hire the most qualified candidates from among a diverse group of people. This has a synergistic effect on the group making it stronger, better than the sum of each candidate alone. Please understand this because I'm tired of explaining it. This is why everybody needs to go to college.

When you said "hire the most qualified" then you clearly do not understand how hiring a diverse team benefits the organization MORE than hiring a bunch of people who have the same lived experiences AND you don't understand that people can be "the most qualified" from each diverse group. You would not be a good hiring manager or CEO.

@jegca I'm exhausted from all of the ignorance here and the subtle aversive racism. People get hired for qualifications, for diversity since that makes the organization STRONGER, and for candidates who get along well within that particular work culture.

Diversity has a role in companies and society: A. Makes the company or team stronger as it adds a broader perspective. B. It allows the talented, qualified people to not be overlooked due to systemic sexism, racism, xenophobia, etc. C. Diversity is about hiring the MOST QUALIFIED CANDIDATE no matter their sex, gender, race, etc.

So the aversive racism and sexism isn't apparent to all, I'll explain: When you say "Hire the best candidate for the job," you're not seeing how racist or sexist that is because nobody hires a diverse group to sacrifice qualifications. How did you think that's how this worked? Then stop saying "Hire the best candidate for the job." That's ignorant and aversive racist/sexist.

@Simon-nv5zj If this is your honest question? How do you still, in 2023, not understand this? It is about a team of diverse peoples who come together to create a stronger team. The TEAM matters. A team of highly qualified, single minded yes men is a worse team. If somebody hires the most qualified person from each group then it is synergy- it's greater than sum of its parts. Look, you're going to have to just read more. Google it.

Even Reagan knew that our leadership in the world was dependant on a diverse group of Americans that stemmed from immigrants.
