  1. It was in response to Russia wanting a "demilitarized zone" between nations, as he was going to occupy Sumy, or at least part of sumy. The reason, is because Ukraine was shell ING Belgorod city. The kursk invasion halted that plan, but also gave that plan more legitimacy.
