The only people this hinders from buying a weapon are law abiding citizens. Criminals are CRIMINALS. They do not obey the law. It is inherent in the very nature of being a criminal. Background checks will do absolutely NOTHING to stop criminals from obtaining firearms. Background checks will put a halt on law-abiding grandparents being able to defend themselves though. That's who this hurts. If you like the thought of the weakest most vulnerable people in society being hassled and prevented from being able to defend themselves from criminals who have nothing whatsoever preventing them from obtaining the tools they need to ply their trade, then perhaps it is you who needs to rethink your position.
