  2.  @thomasjefferson6  You have to think of the country as a whole, not just Alberta-only. Yes, the PM is from Quebec. You have to be from somewhere. He's very well-traveled, and he's lived in other parts of the country, as opposed to some Canadians. The PM doesn't want to destroy any of Canada's economy, but we do have to balance environmental destruction with economic gain. Of course some Albertans are going to think of getting out. You get egotistical when you've got tons of money pouring in from natural resources. Most of the world doesn't have such luxury. Alberta's the kind of place where you can set up shop and make a good living without even a university degree. There's so much money in that province, simply due to the fact that there are natural resources. The problem with relying on that is that one day they will run out and/or not be needed. Albertans need to diversify and get more educated. Alberta will not leave Canada anytime soon, and intelligent Albertans know that. There are many whiny spoilt babies in that province. Ingrates.

  3. Exactly. Americans can't invade Canada, no matter how strong their military. Nobody would accept that. Everyone around the world has a connection to Canada, whether it's a family member or friend living there, or something more than that. Americans do love Canada's natural resources though. I think a big issue will be the Northern Passage which is opening up due to global warming. Americans will try to make the case that those are international waters. Canada's got a huge cash cow waiting. It will be cheaper and faster for people to sail through the northern part of Canada than going through the Panama Canal.

  6. @Simona Makedonia Ukraine will remain independent. Russia will retreat and say it was a mistake. Russia will then focus on building up its economy, which it will do quickly. People will forget the Ukraine thing. The US will just keep the same level of activity in Europe as always. Trump will be re-elected and there will be less American militaristic action around the world because although an idiot, he's not a warmonger like all previous US presidents except maybe Carter.

  7. Unlike other major cities like Vancouver or Montreal, Toronto was mainly full of Americans when it was young. As a Vancouverite that moved to Toronto, you could really see just how American it was compared to other parts of Canada, even down to hotdog vendors on downtown streets.

That means cutting down on pollution and environmental destruction. We need a balance. The PM is probably the most balanced one we've had since his father. Albertans get to be associated with more intelligent people by being in Canada.

And like the spoiled child that they are, they whine about wanting to be treated better, wanting to be separate. Quebec, on the other hand, has the actual distinct society from a wholistic perspective, not just money. Quebec could easily get by without Alberta's money.

  11.  @yannislaurin5438  ROFL. Trudeau was born in Ottawa and lived there as a kid. That doesn't make him an Ontarian though. His parents are from Quebec, and Quebec is right across the river. He only lived in Ottawa (which is bilingual) because his father was the PM. After that he lived and went to school in Quebec. What's your point? He's CANADIAN first. He's spent more quality time all across Canada than most Canadians have. He even taught in Vancouver. He's just an all-round Canuck.

  16.  @dougclendinning2588  BC and Alberta are like polar opposites though politically. So, that's not going to happen. Unless you consider Western Canada just BC and Yukon. Also, one day oil won't be valuable like it is now. Alberta's money will dry up, then they'll be the ones feeding off of everyone else. You shouldn't work 84 hours a week. That's unnatural. You're actually ruining the Canadian standard of living by doing that. Cap it at 50.

  18.  @mikaelbentley9870  I have no idea what a nu-Canadian is, but my ancestors go back to the 1700s in Canada. I wouldn't consider myself left or right. Both are pretty friggin' stupid these days. I'm not sure who you mean by "you people", but it sounds weird. It's really unfortunate what the Harper Government did to Canadian resources, selling them off for pennies to the commies in China, without Canadians having the right to say anything about it. Poor Turd-o has been left with that legacy. Toronto's a good place. It wouldn't big so big if it wasn't. In fact, one nickname is "Toronto the Good". Not just 3rd world countries, but lots of people from any country, and around all of Canada come to Toronto. There are various reasons why it's so attractive. Quebec is the foundation of Canada, so it would be wise to see its positive side, not negative. Other than Albertans, most Canadians know that Alberta is Canada's cesspool though. There seems to be no respect for nature there, which is ironic considering the Rockies are right there. It's pretty pathetic arriving in Edmonton or Calgary and seeing all the Americans with their guns at the airport. Albertans welcome foreigners into the country to kill our wildlife for sport. Then there's the way the Calgary Zoo keeps mistreating its animals. "What the West was" is a pretty mute point. Western Canada now is more polarized than ever, with the Lefty Ladies taking over most of BC, and the Redneck Contards ruling Alberta. BC seems to be winning this game though, despite their horrible politics. At least it's a livable part of the country, and not all of life is about politics. Alberta on the other hand... Talk about a boring wasteland. What can you do though? You just have to work on yourself, and let idiots be idiots.

They're just used to driving with gas, heating their homes with electricity, and having lots of free water. As soon as their lifestyle is threatened, they will try to take resources from other places. One problem is that Canadians can be complacent at times, like when the Harper Government basically gave Canadian resources to communist China for pennies. The Conservatives have a history of being the USA's laptop.

Most people do not loathe Toronto. Toronto is the most populous city in Canada, and people from around the world dream of living there. Some are able to achieve that dream. Many Canadians love Toronto, as it's the de facto capital of Canada. That's where Canadian culture stems from. Your provincialness is showing.

  42.  @weaselwolf8425  The USA doesn't have the capability to "win against" Canada. Yes, they have a strong military and can inflict a lot of damage, but it takes more than might. You don't just invade friendly countries and expect to "win against" them. Not only would there be an insurgency, but the rest of the world wouldn't have it. Canada is a country of immigrants. Basically everyone around the world has a friend or family member in Canada, and nobody would allow for an American take-over of Canada.

Canada has a small population with tons of resources and tons of friends around the world. Very easy to continue living well in Canada.   49. Albertans are just whiny kids. They're relatively uneducated, yet have a high standard of living due to their oil money. The politics thing is just to be "heard". If the Canadian government was more conservative, they'd be more liberal. They make up stories about Ontario having too much power. Canada is a big country and the population is in Ontario and Quebec, so the capital is there. You can't do much about that. But, to them, it seems like some far-off parents are controlling everything, so they throw their little hissy fits. "We're going to become independent.", "We're going to join the US.", "We're going to split with the rest of Western Canada." Yeah, right. Settle down, rich little brats.

OUR PROUD WHITE CANADIAN CULTURE depends on that province, so don't be making light of it. Canada will collapse one day, but so will the USA. That probably won't be for a while. AB, SK, and MB would not join the USA. Let's be real here. They're Canadians. Remember that oil will one day be replaced by cleaner energy sources. That's the problem with Albertans. They've built their province with a strong dependence on natural resources, specifically oil. How's that going to work out in the future?
