  1. Not only would it be the local representing Jesus as one of them, but the Catholic church would've promoted such images, because they knew it would be easier to convert people that way. They would also find similarities between Christian characters and stories and the local religion's characters and stories. They would actively encourage people to equate their local ideas with Christian ones. Now we have poor souls in far flung places around the world turned into greedy Christians through such subversive manipulation.

It's kind of interesting that the type of person who votes conservative, anti-immigrant, and a supporter of the monarchy doesn't step back, think about it, and realize that the monarchs are essentially NOT British. They're just descendants of European and other aristocrats. They don't really represent the British people with actual British ancestries going back centuries.

  10. Imagine if someone with the exact same body as Jesus, who knew the exact same things, and preached the exact same things was here today on Earth? Most Christians wouldn't accept what he has to say. They'd be scared. Tens of millions of white Christians would NOT want someone like that in any sort of position of enlightened master.

  22. Not all Christians interpret things the same way. Most Christians know that Joseph WAS the biological father of Jesus. That seems pretty obvious.

If you're going to be ranking the popularity of a particular name, then be a little more specific. What do you mean by "the time, place and culture of Jesus and his recent ancestors"? That's pretty vague. How long of a time are we talking about? A decade? A century? Three centuries? And what about place? Bethleham? Jerusalem? The whole east coast of the Mediterranean? What is now Israel? What is now the Middle East? Just because we today don't know the meaning of a particular name, doesn't mean it didn't have one. Names don't just pop out of nowhere, meaningless.

  30. Remember that the King James version was a work done by several people, MUCH later than the books were originally written. Of course it was translated too, not in the original languages written, nor the language that Jesus himself spoke. Be careful whenever reading the King James Version.

They weren't teaching the universality of myths. They were indoctrinating people while destroying their way of life. You're so lost if you think Catholics didn't destroy local traditions. Look at what happened to South America. It's almost all Catholic. So many traditional cultures destroyed. Languages gone, belief systems gone, ways of eating gone, ... Of course it wasn't only Catholics. Protestants certainly did their share in North America. Catholics went around the world destroying cultures though. Still do.

  35. Nobody really believes Jesus was born December 25th, you dork. That's just a date chosen to celebrate his birth. Who doesn't know that? Also, it's very well-known that there were already pagan festivals at that time of the year in Europe, and Christmas co-opted them. So what? That doesn't make anyone less or more of a Christian. Jesus wasn't about specific dates and holidays. Read various bibles and think about the underlying messages, not what you see just at first blush.

Anyway, my point was you obviously don't understand that God is omnipresent. God is in Satan, you, and I. God is in EVERYthing. Satan's actions are God's actions, because God pervades Satan. We are all God, like individual waves in the ocean. The waves are the ocean, but the ocean isn't the waves.

The "Get behind me Satan" comment was to get you thinking. Personally, I don't believe there is a Satan, but if there is, it is God. It seems that you need to question your beliefs a little more. You seem to have some ideas about the Christian Bible, like maybe it is authorative and trumps logic.
