  3. The problem is that her parents' generation don't really take drunk driving as serious as younger people do. I know my parents took it pretty lightly. I'm from BC, Canada. The premier of the province (like a US state's governor) was caught drunk driving. He didn't step down and my parents and their friends didn't think he should've either. Their generation and earlier used to "have a drink for the road". They actually had that expression and sometimes lived by it. Before leaving a party or whatever, they'd have one more drink, then drive home.
