  3. It's weird when you've been to the place. My girlfriend and I rented a car for a couple of days. We left Sendai, went up the coast, then back down inland. We stopped in this town for dinner. It was really delicious. That was 10 years before the disaster.

  5. A tsunami this large happens what? Maybe every 500 years at the most? They would've had no idea the water would actually break over the seawall. It would've been completely beyond their comprehension that such a thing could happen. Look at how high those walls are. Even the people high up in the building were shocked when the water started going over.

  7. There were two people, and they likely died. It seems farfetched to think they made it. They were both riding right along the river, and then when the water came over the levee it was an incredible amount of water and fast. They would've been knocked off their bikes violently, completely disoriented. It would be impossible to fight against the current.

  9. Just the usual - humans underestimating danger. Besides, it was probably so out of their imagination that the water would flood over the levees. They probably lived their for years, maybe their whole lives, and it would be beyond comprehension to both of them for that to happen.
