  1. You can kind of see how Ireland would want to remain a different country. I think a lot of people around the world assume Ireland is part of the UK. It doesn't really help that they speak English and are known throughout the world by people like Bono and Sinead O'Connor. They need to work on some sort of campaign to show how different they are.

  2. There obviously were a lot of Irish that were complacent though. There would've been Irish simply watching the English take the food. Why didn't they do anything?

I always thought that the Irish were a simple people that just ate meat and potatoes and couldn't think outside of the box to eat other food, so when their potatoes got diseased, they had nothing to eat. I had no idea that there was actually food to eat, but it was just being shipped to others to the point that people starved to death by the millions.
