And yet you were there. I wonder what others thought of you staining their city.

@balbutie No. I will always be a foreigner, but not always a tourist. The boy's been here a long time. I've got Japanese friends that certainly don't think of me as a tourist. I'd say the same for the countless workmates and acquaintances I've had over the years. Speak for yourself, tourist.

Canadians have a lot of pride. Sounds like they were from BC or Alberta if they were complaining all the time.

Very rare occurence though. Much worse things happen in other countries.

Not. Gonna. Happen. Get strict with tourists? What are you going to do? Put someone in jail for being loud and arrogant?

And, gasp!..., some selfish, ignorant, and disrespectful people are Japanese.

@千本桜-h8y Stop with the assumptions. I can say a lot more. It's dumb when people file away some opinion of a country being so perfect. Wake up and see the bad too. Also, see the good in many foreigners who visit Japan with respect.

@千本桜-h8y Oh, I'm coping very well, sir/madam. Yes, Japan is very civilized these days. I enjoy living in such a society, which is why I've lived her many years. Anyway, I question the idea that Japan is being "flooded by uncivilized individuals". There are still many uncivilized Japanese nationals. I hope you don't run into any of them, because they can make your life hell. Also, there are plenty of foreigners who add to Japan's value and civility. There are many foreigners who keep the peace in Japan. Also, don't forget that the US's massive military presence in Japan helps keep it a peaceful society. If they pulled out, you'd see a rise in uncivilness.

Yeah, but most do things unconsciously. You can't instantly know all the nuances of a different country's society.

Like what in particular?
