I think it will be popular, it doesn't need politicians in it to be popular. Indeed many people use Twitter to follow politics and status updates channels (like for games). But many people use it for ranting about stuff, or to promote products of their work or hobby, and celebrities are just looking to reach an audience. So it can succeed without replacing Twitter. I think it will only replace Twitter if it has so much success that it would be silly to use Twitter or if Twitter continues to have problems and drive their users away.

Social media (which YouTube also is), has a lot of trash. But your use determines if all you see is trash or if you get some actual utility out of it. The people I know often do use Twitter to receive quick status updates on services they use. I do the same. (If threads fills the same purpose it's all the same to me.)

They literally have the biggest social networks, that's hardly being "dead". They did seem to achieve market saturation, and that's the oposite of being dead lol

@driatrogenesis wdym wrong? I use it to get status updates on services that I use. That is useful to me, and does not constitute programing...

Musks free speech claims were lies. Journalists getting banned vs not. Rampant misinformation vs some amount of cleanup. Basic rules vs whims of a billionaire.

I was going to say no, and that they would not need to replace her voice with AI, that it doesn't male sense. But... I listened to it again. And... yes it does sound different and maybe it is AI. It makes no sense to me, but yes, it does seem like AI.

@JojoLannister because that information has been mishandled for purposes that the users did not consent to and used to influence elections, such as by tailoring contradictory promises to different target groups.

It's a free market, this stuff happens all the time. This is business, not an originality contest.
