  3. the further down you go in the simulation rabbit hole, the less resolution you would get. so let's take a look at our "reality." what kind of resolution do we have? it's not that great to be honest, a 3 dimensional reality with likely an entirely simulated empty universe. we are likely pretty deep down that rabbit hole, perhaps near or at the sewer. but the entire argument is moot. even if are living in base reality, it does not free us from the simulation. everything we experience about that reality (or whatever reality we happen to be in) is simulated in our brains. everything we experience is a simulation.

  4. yeah, let's not send out signals. only a suicidal civilization sends out signals showing who knows what where we live and how best to kill us. and if you want to live for thrills, there is a difference between jumping with a parachute and jumping in front of a moving train.

  5. seems unlikely. if some alien species was truly attempting to send a signal, they would send some kind of coded information in the signal, perhaps containing the frequency of transmissions. what would we encode in such a signal, if we were foolish enough to risk extinction by sending out a signal out into the dark forest?

  6.  @esscee96  thankfully, the chances of any alien civilization finding the voyager crafts are almost nil unless one of them somehow wander into an alien home system. what i meant with my question was, what information would we encode in a signal. it would have to be something a being of suitable intelligence could decode and figure out is artificial. perhaps the coordinates of quasar?
