@grahvis The doctor then needs to be aware of declining mental health and to not be incompetent, along with other authorities. I recently read of a UK case where a mentally unwell young male, UK self identified incel, was banned due to mental health however that was updated to allowed. Authorities recently being investigated for negligence, errors. He killed his mother. I'll send the name if I find it.

@grahvis 2 'Jake Davison from Plymouth, shot and killed five people (including his mother) and injured two others' August 2021 'The IOPC investigated why Davison had a shotgun licence despite concerns around his mental health, and the senior coroner asked the office to examine the case of Michael Atherton who in 2012 killed his partner, her sister, her niece and himself, having had a history of domestic abuse and self-harm threats.' 'It also transpired that the detective investigating Davison's assault on two youths had not known what the "FC" marker meant in the Police computer system, which denoted Davison as the holder of a shotgun certificate.[58] Ian Arrow, the senior coroner for Plymouth said that "There was a serious failure by Devon and Cornwall Police's firearms and explosive licensing unit in granting and later failing to revoke the perpetrator's shotgun licence."' (Source the common on line encyclopedia for ease, plenty of news articles if you search).

@michelineakaadou7458 Virginia tech school shooting, 33 fatalities. Many others have high fatalities. UK knife terror incident, London bridge 2 fatalities, reading 3. Guns enable more fatalities, quicker by less confident or able people. In UK we don't read of primary school age children accidentally stabbing themselves, fatally or their sibling.

@nathan113 Yes however the case is proof that specialists, authorities in those fields make human errors or can be negligent. Including in mental health cases. Ontop of that you have budget cuts or less funds given current costs, which will effect mental health services. Tightening regulations does not eliminate any of those. However yes we are far more regulated than the US, I didn't say we weren't. I was saying why have legal rifles, shotguns. Why not reduce homicide by firearm or firearms being stolen by making them illegal. No reason of great value not to.
