@ANISMIK Hungarian speaking areas have the highest proportion of casualties of all Ukrainian regions due to aggressive conscription applied in ethnic minority areas and the Russian east. .

Spoken like a true Soviet apparatchik

think about what you're saying - diktat from above - do you really want to recreate the Soviet Union in Western Europe?
4
@mariuspuiu9555 No, he's popular in Hungary and if the Hungarian people don't want him, he'll be gone. The EU commissioners and appartchiks can not be removed by democratic means. If you want o argue against this you don't have a clue how the EU works.
3
@aladnyulok32 Why should Hungarian voters need to speak English? It's their country, their interests. Don't you know how badly Ukraine has treated ethnic Hungarians since the Maidan coup?
2
@aladnyulok32 Hungary is doing better than most of the EU. I lived in Netherlands even 20 years ago it had a huge problem with immigration and it has only got worse since. I know Germany pretty well it's going downhill there really fast. France has long since been a lost cause. In fifty years time Hungary will still be Hungarian, France will have only French pockets left.

You obviously don't know what democracy is. The EU which is not answerable to electorates is deliberately bypassing member states which are answerable to electorates to send huge amounts of money to the most corrupt country in Europe. In a democracy, the people decide. Let member parliaments decide whether to spend this money on a state by state basis, that is far more democratic than diktat from Brussels.
1
They'd love to but they can't because they're landlocked.
1
@soulsborne7765 Sort of a but a small country needs trade with its big neighbours. And we know from Brexit that the EU will use trade to punish a country that leaves.
1
@joelimbergamo639 No, the EU did all kinds of stuff it didn't need to do for example try to stop food being shipped from the mainland to NI supermarkets with no plan to ship them onward into Eire. Deliberately vindictive. Barnier admitted it FFS
1
@joelimbergamo639 No this is just sabotage and dangerous sabotage too. NI is part of Britain, attempting to create bureaucratic obstacles between the mainland and Northern Ireland supermarkets has got nothing to do with protecting trade into the EU if you can't see this is just a pretext you've bought the propaganda.
1
@nyaatell Not benefactors, more like the Warsaw pact where you can't leave. If you try, they don't send in the tanks they just destroy your economy.
1
@RannonSi EU negotiators including Barnier openly talked about punishing the UK
1
@joelimbergamo639 You use common sense. For example a consignment of sausages packaged for a supermarket which doesn't even exist in Eire at all doesn't merit any interest at all from EU custom inspectors.
1
@RannonSi Listen to yourself - a club so desirable, they'd consider closing their airspace to you if you dare to leave.
1
@nyaatell Hungary pays into EU funds just the same as every other country. Diverting billions to Ukraine obviously means less money for EU citizens. Not sure how anyone would find that logic weird.
1
@nyaatell Of course Hungary is a net benefactor - so what? Does that mean it's not allowed to complain about money being misspent? Money for Ukraine isn't going to stop Russia, it's just going to drag the war out for longer and get more Ukrainians killed. The only thing that will "stop Russia" is giving Russia the security guarantees it should have been given to prevent the war in the first place. Let me remind you, since 1800, the French, then the British, then the Germans then the French, British and Americans all together all invaded Russia. The Soviet army only reached Budapest, Berlin and Vienna after the Germans invaded first. What Russia wants is security. If you're one of these clowns who thinks Russia wants to take over Eastern Europe, why? It already controlled Eastern Europe. It voluntarily gave up that control. Nobody wants to recreate the Soviet Union.
1
@aladnyulok32 Economic growth changes from year to year. Demographic change is forever. If you think economy is more important than immigration then you're an idiot.
1
@Rui301 Because the link between the people in power in Brussels and the voters is so tenuous. In practical terms the EU commission does what it wants and there's nothing the voters can do about it. No different from in the Soviet Union. National parliaments are at least imperfectly accountable to the voters. Take away state vetos and not only have you completely lost democratic accountability but also, EU states are no longer sovereign. It's the path to autocracy, repression and eventually, revolution. If you can't see that, you really need to read the history of the Soviet Union.
1
@nyaatell Putin doesn't want to recreate the Soviet Union FFS, all he ever wanted was to stop NATO expanding up to his borders. All big empires become anti-democratic, whether it's the Soviet Union, the EU or the US federal government. The Hungarians can see this because they were stuck behind the iron curtain.

1
@GustavSvard What you're really saying is that the EU has got too big to be democratically accountable.
1
@GustavSvard Electing national parliaments already puts a layer (of politicians) in between the people and the government. It's unavoidable but it makes democracy very imperfect. The EU introduces an even denser layer, of EU commissioners whom nobody votes for. The EU is incompatible with democracy. The bigger the EU gets the less accountable it gets.
1
If a sovereign state doesn't have a veto, it doesn't have sovereignty
1
Who is "we"? If you want to make the case for transferring tens of billions to the most corrupt country in Europe (Ukraine) then take that case to national parliaments rather than a Brussels diktat from above.
1
@bushido791 It's not so much even the major countries acting in their own interests as the unelected, unaccountable Brussels cabal acting in its own interest.
