The only exception is deep under the Carparthians. Could be they'll build huge caves there like the Iranians built underground weapons factories safe from US conventional weapons. Wouldn't be cheap though and hard to see how Ukrainian resources are going to stretch to that given all their other difficulties.

@arjan2777 Russia can hit anywhere on the surface of Ukraine. The only place safe from Russian missile strikes would be deep under the Carpathian mountains. Ukraine doesn't have the economic resources remaining to build a large armaments industry underground.

If Ukraine joins NATO when the war is over, Russia has a strong incentive to keep the war going and ensure they control the important parts of Ukraine when the war finally is over.

A month into the war Russia decided it would be a long war of attrition so pulled back from anywhere where their supply lines were in danger including Kiev. Putting valuable aircraft and pilots in danger over Bakhmut just wasn't worth any advantage, they achieved the same result with artillery and expendable criminals. It's a mistake to think because Russia doesn't capture ground quickly means there isn't an overwhelming disparity of resources.

@arjan2777 One of the several mistakes you make is you think Ukraine will have the long term option to resist Russia. It's like saying why would Germany accept peace in 1945 if that means being demilitarised, partitioned, looted and held under military occupation? The answer should be obvious. Unconditional surrender earlier would have saved a lot of lives and destruction.
