@teddypicker6969 That's a pretty dumb take, a victory in a war of attrition is when one side loses the will or the ability to continue, not when a particular town is taken. It doesn't matter that Bakhmut is pretty far down the league in size, what matters is the resources expended to attack and defend it.

It was Canadians who had a stand off with the Red Army there. It probably wouldn't have mattered, the Soviets withdrew from Austria after the war as agreed before the surrender.

@teddypicker6969 When did Russia commit to major offensives? Last I heard Surovikhin explicitly said they're NOT going to do major offensives, they're going to use their artillery to destroy the Ukrainian army.

Yeah this crazy talk about taking Crimea just means the population is going to get a bigger shock when the final collapse comes, like Germany in the First World War. The Ukrainian refusal to face reality just forces Russia to keep fighting for longer, kills more people on both sides and makes post war reconciliation harder.
