Interesting, do you have any references for this?

@chepaline I assume you live in Kaliningrad? Is it easy for German passport holders who do not have Russian passports to visit and settle? I assume many of these people will be Russian citizens who usually live in Germany? Also, if you don't mind me asking, are the transit restrictions through Lithuania causing problems? For example increased prices for industry in Kaliningrad?

@chepaline Thank you, very interesting.

@LKaramazov A tactical nuclear weapon is a short range, low yield weapon which creates a fission explosion. These have most definitely NOT been used in Yugoslavia and Iraq. Depleted uranium ammunition are strictly kinetic weapons. Their use however does create radioactive dust which is dangerous to inhale.

The EU can destroy Hungary economically if it wants to, Hungary is surrounded. Also, Hungary gets more economic advantage in the EU. The smart thing to do is stay in but follow its own interest so far as possible.

@clroger4 Sky News Australia is pretty good.

Can you find the article? I don't speak Danish and there's a paywall but from recent articles mentioning Christianso (with the mark through the o), none seem to be mention this.

There's no way the SBU or CIA can shoot down an aircraft near Moscow. Obviously they'd love to be able to that but if you believe they can do that you have to believe Russian security services are completely incompetent. This is either a complicated psy-op and Prigozhin is not really dead or far more likely, one of the factions within the Russian government, almost certainly at Putin's orders.

@lowersaxon Duran guys are definitely pro-Russian and massively underestimate Russian difficulties but their criticisms of Western leaders are valid - more than valid.

A Russian NCO was telling mobilised soldiers that they won't receive much equipment, she told them to ask their wives and girlfriends for medical supplies including tampons to plug bullet wounds, a trick learned from Chechnya. That's the origin of the Telegraph story.

The pro-Russian bias is a bit OTT. The Ukrainian army has taken a huge bite out of Russia. After almost a week, they're still taking more territory. Will Ukraine win the war? No. But not for the first time, this is a significant win for Ukraine. Hundreds of Russian prisoners, deep penetration into Russian territory, many destroyed vehicles on both sides.
2
It's fine to be pro-Putin but the story about Prigozhin is as convincing as Burisma hiring Hunter Biden because he's the smartest lawyer available. As Joe Biden would say - "c'mon man!" ..... anyone who has any doubts should look up the footage of the plane crashing. A grenade doesn't do that.

Casualties usually mean killed, wounded, prisoners, missing etc. The normal word for killed only is fatalities.

The US can borrow very cheaply, one day that will catch up with the US but in the short term, high spending makes the economy boom, sure. But Russia can't safely run a big deficit because it can't sell its debt to the rest of the world. The Russian economy seems to be holding up well but it does have high inflation, they won't want to increase the deficit too much otherwise inflation will climb like it did in Turkey.
2
@djtan3313 Yeah potentially but I think the Chinese economy is in pretty serious trouble too right now and it's unclear that China would really want to buy a lot of Russian debt.

You're not going to fix that bridge in 24 hours. You're not going to fix it in 24 days. 24 weeks... maybe.
1
@Wildweib As an engineer, I'd put money on that span not being fixed in 24 hours or even 24 days. Do you have any idea what's going to be required to replace a span? As for knowing Russia - actually I speak Russian.

@darrylknight2675 Yeah I know it's not perfect. It just compares well with most of the media.

@lachlanbell8390 I totally agree with you about Sky News Australia. Yes they're fully neocon. But they're also anti-woke which puts them far ahead of most of the MSM. It's interesting that Sky News in Britain is quite different, they're quite PC.
1
@lachlanbell8390 Yeah shadow banning, youtube is notorious for that. Quite likely right about that w keyword. Interesting about ownership, I'd never checked.

@lachlanbell8390 BTW I can't see your comment if I expand the thread either. Only if I click on the bell link. Consider yourself shadow banned :0

BJ doesn't have millions, he's always broke :) He spends a lot on child support.

@ikanyengmalila5888 I have no doubt the Russians have already inflicted heavy casualties but the fact remains, a week into this offensive, the Russians are still losing ground and there's still serious confusion. Yes, Russia is winning the war that's obvious but dismissing Ukrainian successes like the Duran guys always do is just as bad as the Western media, just for the opposite side. I've seen a lot of footage, it looks like so far, the first week of this, the Ukrainians have at minimum held their own and Russian losses are probably higher despite all the advantages Russia has. That will probaby change once the Russians get organised but let's just be honest - they haven't yet.

That's the origin of the Telegraph story. Alex was presumably not aware of that.

@jarimakela7307 Yes... good spot!

I'm highly sceptical that Ukraine is currently losing more men and equipment than Russia. Ukraine is capturing Russian equipment and taking Russian POWs.
