  3. A realistic appreciation of the situation is not a capitulation. If Ukraine had abided by the Minsk II accords this would never have happened at all. Poroshenko (and Merkel and Hollande) all admitted there was never the intention to live up to Ukraine's obligations.

  7. And so what? Russia also says Crimea is part of Russia. That's why NATO's whole strategy is wrong. Even if somehow the Ukrainians could threaten Crimea - which looks unrealistic - then Russia could just recover their position with nuclear weapons.
