@chrissmith7669 Everyone knows Russia has the air, artillery and ammunition advantage and are gaining ground and taking prisoners but you still think Russian losses are higher? That makes no sense.

@Reece1980 People who think the tank is obsolete because of what the infantry can do to the tank are forgetting what the tank can do to infantry. It's not pretty.
3
@dougcoombes8497 There's no evidence Russian losses are anywhere near that high. Russia isn't even fighting seriously. It hasn't even sent conscripts - except a few by mistake. If you think Ukraine is winning you need to compare territory controlled day by day.
3
I'd say it was as soon as the Russian army pulled out in the north and had consolidated Izyum that they started winning. After the Russians taking Popasna, the Ukrainian front is cracking. It's surreal the Western media is still entertaining ideas about Ukraine taking back this territory.

I don't think Lancets are generally powerful enough to destroy MBTs

@MissMan666 That's what Yeltsin said back in 1999 when NATO seized Kosovo from Yugoslavia. Pity Clinton and Blair didn't listen to him or we wouldn't have this war now.

Poland can't afford it either. Actually confrontation with Russia is pure madness.
1
@robtt6624 I think you should pay more attention to day by day maps before you believe everything in this report.

@dougcoombes8497 Are the Russians losing by forcing the surrender of the pocket in Mariupol and taking over the Donbass? Let's wait a couple of weeks then you can tell me you're right.
1
@dougcoombes8497 Do you actually know what a bot is? We have no way of telling what Russian losses are. If you want to take Ukrainian claims or even British/American claims at face value then you're very naive because the Ukrainian government has made several claims we can be sure are outright lies. What we can get a better idea of is POWs because various organisations can identify them individually and the Russian side has thousands of Ukrainian POWs. Russia lost a lot of POWs right at the start of the war but we've yet to see a large Russian formation surrender. This is a war of attrition for Russia now and Russia is winning - inflicting high Ukrainian casualties with artillery and isolating Ukrainian formations.

Except that Putin isn't Hitler, the Russians have neither the interest in nor the capability of threatening Britain in a conventional war and Britain derives no benefit whatsoever in pursuing the Washington neocon agenda in Ukraine, the Middle East or elsewhere.
1
@chrissmith7669 If you believe that I don't think your sources are balanced. The Russians are taking 20-40 prisoners per day. The Ukrainians take a handful now and then. Yes the Russians have definitely blown through Ukrainian defences. If you're denying that then you're obviously not following the fighting very closely.
1
@cameronspence4977 You're missing the point. True the VKV doesn't usually fly directly over the front lines (although that has been happening a lot more this year), the VKV launches FABs from as much as 70km away. Yes it does put aircraft at risk from SAMs but they judge it worthwhile and Russian fighter losses are pretty modest. The end result is the Russians can demolish even the strongest fortification. Ukraine has no equivalent.
1
@chrissmith7669 F16s. Another "game changer" coming up right? I don't think FABs are limited success. Ukraine has no answer to FABs. As soon as the Russians can identify a Ukrainian position, it can be destroyed. Yes, missiles could do that already but missiles are expensive and in limited supply. FABs are cheap enough they can be used even when the Russians aren't confident they're going to hit something valuable. I don't think F16s are going to achieve anything like that. They'll get destroyed on the ground, destroyed in the air, they'll be useful to launch missiles but they're not going to change the one sided nature of the war.

@mikedon5205 Decades ago the Americans promised the Russians NATO would not expand eastwards, they obviously lied. In the lead up to the war Kamala Harris and Zelensky both said Ukraine would join NATO (in Munich) and Ukraine was on the NATO MAP. How can anyone seriously claim this is irrelevant?
1
And yet the internet is full of videos of Russian infantry clearing Ukrainian trenches even though the Ukrainian army is now bigger than the Russian army in Ukraine....
1
You'd more appropriately be ashamed that your country is aligned with the Washington neocons who deposed the democratically elected government of Ukraine in 2014 and installed an oligarch puppet government which then went on to start a civil war.
1
The Ukrainian army is bigger than Russian forces in Ukraine.
1
That's Ukraine for you. The guys doing the fighting are the poorer guys who can't afford the bribes to stay out the military while the rich are partying it up in discos in Lviv, Odessa or in Western Europe. A whole lot of military recruiters just got fired for taking bribes, one of them had made millions over the past year.

Yeah hot nutritious food is a sure defence against modern artillery.
1
@peabase Sure... but that's the middle of winter ... in Finland. Hot nutritious food is going to be a decisive in Ukraine. In more normal conditions, an army can fight on rations packs for months and without any food at all for a few days at least.
