No interrupting because they're all cooperating to push the same propaganda.

"People are quite relaxed here" - doesn't square with the narrative that Russian missiles are deliberately targeted at civilians or are inaccurate.

"No military sense whatsoever" - so far, the fighting around Kherson has resulted in Ukrainian casualties several times higher than Russian casualties. One Ukrainian officer estimated five to one. Which isn't too surprising given Russia still has the air and firepower advantage and the Ukrainians are attacking across open terrain. Does Dom Nicholls not actually know this? If he does, why not report it, nobody can seriously argue it's not important.

@DS9TREK Depends on the situation and terrain. If the attackers can suppress the defenders and the defenders are routed then no, the attackers might suffer light casualties and the defenders might suffer badly. But this isn't the case around Kherson. The Russians have superior firepower, the Ukrainians are attack across open country and with a deficiency in armour. So purely from an attrition viewpoint it makes excellent sense for the Russians to stay there. And later on, they'll probably use it as a springboard to drive westwards. But no, these Telegraph guys can't just admit that, there's always some snide comment implying the Russian commanders don't know what they're doing.

@UserNameInvalidated Dom Nicholls claims it makes no sense for the Russians to remain in Kherson. Which is just ridiculous to anyone who knows anything about it. From a strictly military perspective (disregarding the propaganda requirements), it makes little sense for Ukraine to attack in this area. They can't succeed, it's too late now Russia has mobilised and will soon be strong enough to go over to the attack, well it appears this has already happened. The area is too open, it doesn't play to the temporary superiority in infantry. Ukraine is just wasting its best manpower in useless attacks which can no longer achieve enough to justify the cost.

@gordonclifton2694 No hard information about casualties anywhere. Leaked documents suggest Ukraine was near 200,000 casualties months ago. And a Ukrainian officer fighting near Kherson was complaining that they were losing five men for each Russian casualty. Video evidence of endless destroyed Ukrainian vehicles suggests that looks plausible.
