@@user-jv4ec5pm9n Oryx has been completely discredited. It has attributed Ukrainian losses as Russian losses, made up Russian losses and ignored Ukrainian losses. When challenged about this, the guys behind Oryx just get angry and say it's a volunteer effort - well ok it's a volunteer effort but then admit it's not accurate.

Plus maybe around a year ago, Von der Leyen accidently let slip a hundred thousand Ukrainian dead in speech the footage of which was later censored.

@CA-jz9bm Not just Poland either, some of Ukraine is ethnically Hungarian and Romanian. After the war, the Hungarian area is going to have a lot of resentment towards the Kiev government.

@CA-jz9bm Yes I think it was on purpose, well not on purpose to get them killed, on purpose to ensure non Ukrainian areas did most of the dying. It might be different now but earlier on in the war, conscription was most aggressive in the least Ukrainian parts of the country. Someone did a break down by oblast of identified deaths divided by the pre-war population of the oblast and I think Transcarpathia had the highest overall number. Viktor Orban was quite outspoken about this so people who speak Hungarian probably know about it.

Biden?

@skiddzjust1389 Nah Oryx has been discredited by people auditing it. You can check for yourself. You can't discredit something by declaring it discredited, people have examined particular samples and explained why they're wrong. But you'll believe what suits your preconceived agenda :)

@@user-jv4ec5pm9n There is no other open source which covers the whole war. Yes people can check Oryx. People have checked Oryx. It's full of errors and the errors are all one way. You can deny it but it doesn't really matter. The war won't be won by propaganda. The war will be won by a collapse of Ukrainian morale due to huge casualties. If Ukrainians had been more realistic to start with this could have been avoided. Denying this reality just drags the war on longer and increases the number of people killed.

@joseavila5747 That would be multiple but you can't blame them for that, they couldn't know. The bigger problem is someone audited a subset and found they'd 1) made up Russian losses 2) counted Ukrainian losses as Russian 3) ignored Ukrainian losses. Unfortunately we just can't know what real losses are. Probably NATO militaries have a pretty good idea by doing the same as ORYX but with more resources but they're not going to tell us.

The Mediazona stats include Wagner. Around 40,000 Russian dead. To get 80,000 you estimate you'd have to double that. It's possible but it seems high. I expect Russian dead are lower than 80k. Also I'm sure Ukrainian losses are very high but don't believe 373,000 - I don't know what the true number will be but that's much too high. About 500 dead every single day of the war on average. Finally, the cemetery you mention is Bykivnia and the size is less than 100 hectares. Yes, it's very big but be careful with such details if you put weight into this as evidence. Just because such a cemetery is built says nothing about how much of it has been used so far.

@MrDomingo55 Yes i saw that but the problem is, we've got no way of knowing whether it's genuine. It might be but it's too easy to fake. Nowadays even videos can be convincingly faked, it's getting really hard to tell what's real and what's not. That's why I put particular weight on that leak by Von Der Leyen.

@dzonikg Why would you support the side which bombed your country in 1999 based on lies? That deliberately targeted civilians including a television station? I am not Serbian but if I were, I would never forgive NATO for this.

Mediazona is pretty good, have a look. They have individually identified about 40,000 Russian dead and they categorise them by month killed too. The problem is their "estimate" that actual Russian dead are more than twice what they have identified. It could be true but it is just a guess. What is far too low however are estimates of Ukrainian casualties. It's delusional to think that although everyone admits the Russians have more firepower, more air support, more armour and more ammunition, that Ukrainian casualties are lower.
