Plus a railway... the Russians hit the railway bridge but AFAIK, have not been able to disable the bridge permanently.

Inspecting cargo ships near the Ukrainian coast is too risky for the Russian navy but Russia can just hit the port infrastructure

Highly dangerous though, if a missile flies off course by even a few hundred metres, it hits Romania. Yes they have bit Ismail once but if they keep doing it, sooner or later they'll land a missile in Romania.

@danielhutchinson6604 I don't know the status of the Odessa bridge, do you reckon it's permanently disabled? The damage I saw a few months back looked repairable. I'm an engineer but never worked on bridges.

@danielhutchinson6604 Interesting about the bridge - if it's really down properly then I'd guess the Danube ports aren't that important because too little wheat could be moved there to be decisive. Yeah there's no doubt it's going to be challenging but I don't see any sign that Ukrainian logistics have ever actually broken down. I think if there had have been a real danger of that the Russians would have persevered attacking the rail network. And as soon as they slacken off, stuff gets repaired pretty quickly and gets harder to damage. That's one of the lessons of the Second World War, that it's really hard to knock out infrastructure with bombing. That's why I expect the Ukrainian electricity grid will manage this coming winter. Because they've had all summer to prepare and install redundancy and probably install some transformers underground where they'll be safe. It'll be interesting though, Russian missile production has increased a lot so if the Russians go after the electricity grid again they'll be doing it with more missiles and more degraded Ukrainian air defence.
