@MrGreenTabasco Only an idiot thinks the economic problems in Britain are from Brexit. Immigration is running at over a million per year and has pushed up the cost of living massively (especially in the south) while depressing wages and standard of life generally. Anything to do with the state has become dysfunctional and people are starting to notice. That includes the NHS. As for Zeihan he's shown over and over he knows little of the world outside the USA which is ironic for someone who markets himself as a geostrategic analyst. He doesn't like Brexit because he's a globalist it's that simple.

Zeihan's takes on everything can be distilled down to two rules. USA = good everywhere else = bad. Hope that clarifies this video.

@LewisPulsipher In Britain the Conservative party promised again and again to get immigration down but never delivered. Many voters pay more attention to the rhetoric than to the substance. As for immigration being necessary, why? Most immigrants cost more than they contribute. Look into the Dutch and Danish studies quantifying the benefits of immigration - the Dutch found immigration cost them 400 billion over the years i.e. that it was a huge net cost, roughly equivalent to the entire benefit they got from North Sea gas. The reason is obvious. Most immigrants don't come from successful countries, they mainly come from parts of the world which are unsuccessful. They bring with them their culture.

@DolphLongedgreens Another great gem - in a war between NATO and Russia, the casualties would be 1000 to 1. It reminded me of Biden confidently predicting the Taleban would be defeated by the Afghan government forces a few days before the Taleban drove into Kabul.

@stephenderry9488 Brexit actually helped the City of London ie. escaping from the regulatory stranglehold of Brussels which came up with such huge work creation schemes as MIFID2

@johnnyel Yeah Greenwald is approximately right, we was wrong on a few minor details. The Duran channel is probably best on British politics esp. their recent interview with Parvini.. As for Zeihan, he's basically a joke

Brexit didn't make it worse, Britain had the highest growth of any large European country for most of the period of the Brexit negotiations. Lock downs, structural deficit spending and general public sector incompetence are more than enough to explain the financial dysfunction in Britain as of 2024.

@thelonerick LOL The British /US relationship since WWI has seen the UK go from the centre of the world's largest empire and the financial centre of the world to a US satellite. No, this relationship has been great for one side it hasn't been great for the other side.

@john.8805 You should go and look up the greatest 1000 inventions in history if you don't think Britain has been punching above its weight over the past few hundred years.

Yes this is obviously true and what's more everyone in Britain knows it. But it's typical of Zeihan's takes on anything outside of the USA. Confidently delivered superficial rubbish

@arshadali2312 LOL so explain please why Paris and Frankfurt went to such great lengths to unsuccessfully poach banks and bankers from London
1
@arshadali2312 The French and German states are not keen to have tens of billions of extra tax revenue? Do you have a shred of evidence for this surprising claim?

Scottish oil was another huge boon in the 80s

@orcho141 As if you know the first thing about economics. Read Roger Bootle on Brexit if you want to dig deeper than slogans.
