@abr00ky It's delusional to think one of the world's biggest economies can't stand on its own. The EU is a disaster zone nowadays, there's serious political instability and economic stagnation. The EU's only answer to its growing problems is greater integration and greater authoritarianism. The UK re-joining the EU would be complete madness. It's more likely other countries will leave.

@aceyage How is the EU authoritarian? I'm not sure if that's a serious question. People in countries like France and Germany now have very little freedom of speech now. The EU itself is a big part of the reason. There's very little democratic accountability. Most laws come from people who are mainly anonymous and are not directly voted for. How much detail do you want? You want some books to read?

@aceyage Democracy is dying all over the West except maybe Switzerland but the USA has one huge advantage over everywhere else: freedom of speech in the constitution. As for the GOP aren't you aware of how the Biden administration has used the justice system to prosecute political opponents? Look into all the charges against Trump for a start but there are many other less famous examples.
