The objective should b e contain the damage and stop a nuclear war. Bleeding the bear just means the a new cold war and the bear will have its revenge at length. Victory for Ukraine is obviously impossible unless you define victory as survival in a diminished form.

@GSicKz What's your evidence the Russians are losing thousands of men? Mediazona tracked 50,000 dead Russians in the whole war including convicts. Losses this year have really dropped off. Following the fighting from mapping channels like Weeb Union, DPA and Military Summary, it's looking very one sided. The Russians locate Ukrainian positions and wipe them out with FABS. The Ukrainians have no way to answer that.

@maxpower3990 A lot of assumptions there if you're gambling with the survival of the world. Since the West keeps escalating, it's obviously in Russia's interest to show they're serious about a red line. A Russian strike at say a Polish airbase - what then? Do you seriously believe the USA wants a war with Russia? No. So what's NATO going to do? In a game of chicken where everyone dies if nobody chickens out, escalation is the dumbest choice by far.

@Snipeyou1 In a nuclear war, most of the US population is dead in the first month. Most of the remainder is dead in the first year.

@ClownCarCoup I don't know why you think the Russians are bluffing. Even Zeihan who is a pretty extreme anti-Russian propagandist admits this war is existential for Russia. Look at it from Russia's perspective. You don't have to agree 100% but look at how they see it. NATO kept expanding eastwards despite multiple pledges given to the Russians this would not happen. Minsk II accords was a fraud, even Hollande and Merkel and Poroshenko admit that. USA is stationing nuclear capable missiles (so Russia can't tell whether they're nuclear armed) in Poland. Soon before the war Zelensky was talking about Ukraine acquiring nuclear weapons. Kamala Harris explicitly said Ukraine would join NATO. It's one red line too many for the Russians. Now they've crossed the Rubicon they're not backing down, if they were actually losing somehow, they'd escalate. You can bet 100% certain they'd use tactical nukes if Crimea were seriously threatened. So what's the actual point of escalation for the USA? To kill a few more Russians? The Russians won't forgive or forget that, they'll return the favour next time the US is in some overseas war. For Ukraine to actually win? That's even more dangerous than Ukraine losing. That's the path to WWIII which is highly likely going to wipe out both sides. Do you want your family dead to stop Russia controlling Donetsk and Mariupol? Guess what the people who live in those cities would rather be part of Russia anyway. The only smart thing to do is negotiate seriously and in good faith and cut a deal with the Russians that recognises what Putin calls "facts on the ground". Don't force the Russias to fight all the way to Kiev and Odessa because the Ukrainians are going to run out of men and the Russians will manage it eventually

Imagine North Vietnam was hitting the USA with Soviet weapons. Do you seriously think the USA would just sit back and take it? If Western weapons do serious damage to Russia, Russia is going to reply. Either with a massive strike using conventional weapons to cause mass casualties in Ukraine - which they haven't done yet - or with tactical nuclear weapons. Only an idiot thinks Russia is going to back down and only an idiot thinks Russia is going to just keep letting the west escalate without responding. One response Russia has already made is to give NK advanced rocket technology. That alone is a huge loss for the USA.

No, it's just an hysterical claim. If Russia attacks a NATO country it will only be in response to this continual escalation.
