@maxpower3990 We know for sure Ukraine massively exaggerates claims of Russian losses.
9
Most of what he says is BS. Claiming Russian losses are higher than Ukrainian losses is already implausible, claiming Russian losses are five times higher is blatant fantasy.

Ukrainian ministry of truth

His track record of predictions is pretty dismal - he talks very confidently but when he's talking about something you know a lot about it's obviously he's full of BS
3
@maxpower3990 Yet it wasn't the Russians who admitted the Minsk II accords were signed as a pretext to rearm before resuming the fighting. It was Poroshenko, Hollande and Merke.
3
F16s won't do well against Russian SAMs

@elKarlo People assume Russia will accept negotiations. It's not clear Russia will. There were already negotiations a month into the war. Russia pulled back from Kiev because there was an agreement. Then Kiev cancelled the agreement. Russia will be very reluctant to trust any pledges. The war might go on until there's a complete collapse. Which might well happen this year. In that case, Russia occupies the territory they want and what remains falls into anarchy and probably gets occupied by NATO armies.

Russian air defence is cutting edge though Zeihan will never admit it.

Except that these numbers come from the Ukrainian ministry of truth and their NATO allies. The Russian soldiers think these claims Russian losses higher than Ukrainian losses are amusing. Who are all these dead Russians? Mediazona can find around 40,000 from the entire war. And look at when they died - current losses are running at a trickle. The really high losses were when they were throwing expendable convicts into the Bakhmut meat grinder. Where Russia was firing 90% of the ammunition so what do you think Ukrainian losses were like there?
1
@maxpower3990 Germany was starving and was unable to replace losses. Hardly applies to 2024 Russia where the economy is booming, the army is expanding and Putin's popularity is higher than when the war started. It may well apply to Ukraine though.
1
@strigoiu13 Not really, internet BS is America's greatest strength. A uni of Adelaide study earlier in the war found that 90% of the bots were on Ukraine's side. The US state puts serious money into this. As for Russia, look at the deficit, look at the growth look at national debt. All looking better than the USA. Laughing emojis don't change the numbers.
1
LOL the Russians don't think so, they're confident, they're advancing, they're having no problem expanding their army and their economy is growing despite sanctions. Have a close look at things in Ukraine. Just yesterday recriminations and arguments in the Rada, Zaluzhny was shouting he needed a massive expansion in recruitment months ago.
1
80% of the Russians who left have returned. Identified Russian dead (by Mediazona) comes to around 40,000 out of the biggest population in Europe. Peter's numbers are propaganda wishful thinking.
1
@maxpower3990 Check your numbers, the Russian army is now bigger than when the war started. The economy has grown, not collapsed as Zeihan predicted. Nor has their oil industry collapsed like he predicted.
1
@MisterWaldo And you think US intelligence is telling you the truth? FFS man WMD in Iraq?! Hunter Biden's laptop is a Russian plant? we don't spy on US citizens?
1
Where did you get these numbers from? Oryx? Oryx has been discredited, it has invented Russian losses, undercounted Ukrainian losses and attributed Ukrainian losses as Russian. Google it.
1
What are you smoking? the Russian economy is growing at over 3%, that's faster than most of Europe.
1
He seems to not speak any language other than English, I've heard him woefully mispronounce even well known names in French, German and Russian.
1
@user-je3sk8cj6g Russia didn't get to be the biggest country in the world with an army that sucked. Zeihan is a propagandist. Anyone who's closely following the fighting and believes Russian casualties are higher than Ukrainian must be thick as a turd.
1
@strigoiu13 You obviously don't follow the fighting. Most Russian attacks are just enough to keep the pressure on. Who are all these dead Russians? Mediazona has identified around 40,000 from the entire war and the big spike was convicts during the Bakhmut battle.
1
@heyho4770 Their military production is increasing. And overall economic growth is very healthy. Yes, they have low unemployment, it takes a lot of copium to spin that as a bad thing.
1
@heyho4770 Wars are expensive. remind me again how much the US spent in Afghanistan to replace the Taleban with the Taleban? Low unemployment pushes up wages and the standard of living. Look at the numbers. Russia's national debt is tiny compared to most Western countries and even the war inflated the deficit is less than 1% of GDP and will fall after the war. The US deficit is around 6% of GDP and that's structural. A lot of European countries are worse. Pointing to low unemployment in Russia as a problem really is clutching at straws.
1
@nightspore4850 Wishful thinking won't win a war
1
Yet their economy is growing, their military production is growing their population is solidly behind the war. Every problem the Russians have the Ukrainians have much worse.
