The politicians and members of the homeless industry will never allow the problem to be fixed. They depend on it for power and wealth. Homelessness is easily fixed when you get those two out of it.

@SicilianStealth Yes, I have been unhomed in the past. And got out of it quickly. The current crisis is exacerbated by the people who make their living off of it. They have ZERO incentive to fix the problem. Every state/city and county in the US has government owned properties that sit vacant for decades. Take even a small amount of the funding going to "homelessness" and those properties could be refurbished to make apartments for every homeless person in that area. Billions would be saved and so would thousands of lives. As for taxing churches...you must be out of your mind. Many, if not most, run outreach programs that are actually charitable and feed and clothe the homeless. The biggest barrier to them doing more is the government who routinely steps in and denies the churches their rights to use their property to house homeless people. Better to just abolish ALL taxes, then charitable giving would skyrocket beyond its already hefty numbers. Oh, and the "if you haven't been homeless you know nothing" bit? Intellectually bereft of anything. It may only give a small insight, but it doesn't lend cachet.

@MagnumCarta If you keep the obstacles, like the homeless industry, then nothing gets fixed. Cancer has to be cut out.

@lainecolley1414 Not even remotely true where charity is concerned and irrelevant, as well. The homeless do not give 2 f's about the source of food and shelter. And there are plenty of non-religious charities around, as well. The government sponsored ones do nothing to address and fix the the issues. Otherwise it would be fixed. And most religious based homeless charities do it on their dime, not the tax payers. And, as we see all too often, governments discriminate against them, in favour of doing nothing. All while violating the rights of the people feeding, clothing and housing those in need. And, as you obviously failed to understand...the government and taxpayer funded NGO's are the reasons we have a big problem. Their "policies" are the unconstitutional ones.

@MagnumCarta I think you have missed the entire point. Government has proven to be more than inept at this. They have literally made it worse. And the private industry members have ZERO incentive to fix homelessness. That's their bread and butter (and their incredibly high salaries at the top).

@srdjan455 Are you that uninformed? Go back up through the replies and see the links. And if you don't know who...just look at virtually any NGO "charity" that addresses homelessness.

@lainecolley1414 Not sure where you're going or what you're attempting to imply, but I don't live here on YT. And it doesn't take long to say what you know when it's an issue you've been working on for years.
