China controls 80% of the rare earth processing for batteries. We need to change that. American lithium mines need to be the priority.

@jacklinks6097 have you seen the nanodiamond battery technology?

@samsonsoturian6013 Article from Apr 17, 2021 — In 2019, China was responsible for 80% of rare earths imports, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

@stc2828 you are correct in that China controls 13% of global lithium reserves, and THAT'S a number from the media that considers Tibet to be part of China. If you, like me, do not consider Tibet to be part of China, then there's much less. For example, Chabyer Tsaka is a Tibetan lake with massive lithium content.

@commiemeth they control 80% of processing capability... And didn't the Chinese buy the last Pacific shipbuilding port in America?

@TheBlueMotel Angola, Australia and the US are all poised to ramp up the production of rare earth elements during the next few years, but China is set to continue enjoying an 80% share of the global refining of the vital metals. Apr 26, 2022 Article from mining-technology

@DrRemorse it's not their supply that is being utilized, it's their processing and refining facilities. Lithium comes out sorta like limestone gravel. It has to be crushed out and refined. They're getting the raw materials from places like the Democratic Republic of Congo, where child mine workers scrape it into buckets and bring it up and even the people that don't work at the mines yet live nearby, they have blood lead levels that are 10 times higher than safe. The China lithium processing problem needs to be addressed by the Biden administration.

@darthmittens5863 I've offered to invade China myself over the last couple decades, ever since becoming interested in Tibetan Buddhism, taking empowerment in Maha Kala, learning many survival skills, switching to an agricultural lifestyle, becoming proficient in martial and shooting arts, and getting a 92 on the ASVAB to show my country that I'm a good candidate for said invasion, but the FBI has a passport hold on me like I'm some sort of radical 🤔

@stc2828 what panic? This is just a smoke signal. Gotta get lithium refining in America, similar to the way the Australians have taken strides to get a hold of refining their own lithium.

@graydonproulx8452 new mines indeed, but we need to be refining our own

Just need to build massive refining facilities 🤔

@dfgdfg_ every individual chooses their own path and I must ask myself how much karma I will incur by letting corrupt atheist emperors take over the world

@kylewashington5567 agreed, but only with our own oilfields and Canadian tar sands

@kylewashington5567 I do have to add that the small modular reactor is an amazing new invention capable of producing 50 megawatts out of the size of a tractor trailer
