@markford-h7l Allow me to pass on some of my old man's simple wisdom: "Never threaten people you don't know. They just might do something that you aren't expecting."
27
What was the over/under?
10
Years ago I worked at a place that built nuclear reactors. I had a clearance to view classified documents. I would look up the document numbers on the index and give my boss the numbers. He would tell me when they were in the "reading room". There was a sign on the door that read as follows: "Warning! You are entering an area where sensitive materials may be viewed. Viewing these materials without proper clearance or unauthorized removal from this room is a felony and will result in prosecution." Good enough for me!

@davidgriffin6724 So you are saying that if you rent a car and rob a bank the car rental place is somehow responsible?
8
@kaybel5104 If one could connect a large enough dynamo to the spin coming from Washington, the energy crisis would be solved.
6
"And don't call me Shirley!"
6
Democrats set the new standards, so I'd say yes.
5
@xstlady52 "Four different grand juries, in heavily Democratic jurisdictions..."
5
It's deja vu all over again...
4
@kimpeater1 Deserves got nothing to do with it...
4
@Sactastic That would be a IGBM.
4
I remember a old SNL "news" story about Israel and the American state of Georgia trading places.
3
@Deltasquadformingup It was intra-galactic, not intergalactic.
3
But impeaching Trump was OK, right?
3
@lenkovsky7662 Where exactly is that written? I can't seem to find it. No smartass answers, either. If you don't have verified facts stay away.
2
@lenkovsky7662 Yes, it is. Ask any bully. However, with the advent of the Internet, things like "terroristic threats" and "harassment by communication" are quite common and prosecutable, unlike someone threatening you over a CB radio.
2
@carolinematusevich889 What part of "ineligible to possess classified documents" can't you understand? It's not rocket science.
2
@carolinematusevich889 I got your "magat" right here!
2
@carolinematusevich889 I see what you did there...
2
@carolinematusevich889 According to the Daily Mail, nine boxes have been seized from the Boston office of Biden 's attorney. Check it out. If you dare.
2
@yehimstone5492 Try 1933. The Ukrainian people couldn't fight Stalin off then but they most certainly can now.
2
@DomnSan But the car rental place doesn't know how you're going to use the car, now do they?
2
@mitchellsmith1593 There's a saying in engineering: "If you haven't solved the problem you haven't thrown enough money at it."
2
Too bad you don't like it.
2
@wchenful So, by your reasoning, if there's a poisonous spider in your house you're just going to leave it alone until it bites you?
2
@LSDdreams808 If you get in my face and threaten me, I'm not going to wait to see if you follow through because you've already laid your cards out.
2
@kimpeater1 From the movie "Nobody": "You killed my brother!" "He was alive the last time I saw him."
2
@wchenful There are those who would argue your point. Spiders have their place in nature, and what gives you the right to remove them from their place? See my point?
2
@wchenful The spider is only a threat until it bites you. Neely was only a threat until he attacked someone.
2
@wchenful Agreed, in which case "intent" becomes a relevant factor. Now, I don't have the answers to the following questions: Was Neely making eye contact with the other people or was he screaming at the wall? Was Neely within arm's reach of any of the other people? The legal system hinges on one word: reasonable. If he wasn't making eye contact and wasn't within arm's length of anyone then it's reasonable to assume that he wasn't threatening anyone, in which case Penny is roadkill. On the other hand, if he was making eye contact and (the "and" is very important) was within arm's length then it's reasonable to assume that he was going to assault someone. This whole thing will play out by people way above my pay grade and yours too. Best to sit back and watch the show.
2
@wchenful Most of what you say is true, except for the spitting part Thanks to Bloodborne Pathogens, spitting or using other body fluids as weapons is considered "assault with a deadly weapon". But I got your point. The legal system doesn't permit retaliation, nor does it enable prevention of assault.
2
@jennyfromtheblock.7153 The only gun that was used murdered an unarmed Air Force veteran...
2
@Unsupervised_Guidance You need one every so often. Read Abraham Lincoln's first inaugural address...he believed that the American people had the right to overthrow the government, violently if necessary, if they determined that the government wasn't responding to their needs. Interesting reading.
2
They got the last laugh on Reagan after all!
2
Yeah...who didn't see THAT coming? LOL.
2
@richardgesegnet5481 Ever think that going home isn't part of the plan?
2
The Kessel Run was a 20-parsec route used by smugglers to move glitterstim spice from Kessel to an area south of the Si'Klaata Cluster without getting caught by the Imperial ships that were guarding the movement of spice from Kessel's mines. From Wookiepedia.
2
Boo frickin' hoo...
2
Actually, Andromeda was the only sci-fi show that I can recall that traveled between galaxies.

Go ahead and play, it'll get real when Klaatu and Gort show up.

The only thing that we're learning is the judge's and prosecutor's lack of knowledge as to how real estate works. The most obvious is the difference between the "assessed value" and the "fair market value". $27M might be a down payment for Mar-A-Lago, but you're not going to buy it for that price. Second issue is the definition of "due diligence". Banks and insurance companies have their own professional staff whose job is to appraise properties for their "fair market value". Just you try to get a million dollar loan from the bank with a $100K house as collateral. Let me know how it goes. But none of this matters, because the judge has already declared Trump guilty. He should just slam his hand down, like he did last week, declare Trump guilty, and get on with it.
1
So...since the Brazilian rioters were somehow inspired by the American rioters, and if Trump instigated the American rioters, then by extension Trump is responsible for the Brazilian rioters.
1
@lenkovsky7662 If I wrote a letter to the local paper detailing illegal things you're doing, like running moonshine, for example, and you don't like it you can sue me for harassment and intimidation. If I use ANY ethnic "slur", like Hunky, Johnny Bull, Mick, or Dago, then ethnic intimidation comes into play.
1
@austinlaske6462 Doxxing is common, and "intimidation" is in the eye of the beholder.
1
@JohnDoe-ew3xt Depends on what you call them. Avoid common racial and ethnic slurs, and have at it, but try to be imaginative and use words from movies.
1
@dovahkiin159 You're right, there are limits. The trick is knowing what the limits are and staying within the lines. If I called you a "lying, dog-faced pony soldier" and you file a complaint, I just say "Hey, President Joe said it first!"
1
@JohnDoe-ew3xt Any ethnic or racial slur. Watch "Gran Torino" for examples.
1
@totostamopo In case you haven't noticed, Florida is the only state in which the courts don't automatically dismiss motions brought by Trump's lawyers.
1
@xstlady52 And, as has been proven in New York, Atlanta, and DC, the jury pool is made up of an overwhelming percentage of people who hate Trump. Make the juries equal numbers of Republicans and Democrats and get back to me.
1
@anobelkhoushabeh3831 It would have been ironic if a crazier person had shot him. Happens a lot in NYC.
