I just watched it on TV the other day and it felt like a fanfiction in motion. First, we have to circumvent canon. Resurrect Trinity and Neo. Next, construct a backstory around why the machines would not only resurrect them but keep them alive. Sprinkle it with liberal use of flashbacks. Add a touch of modern political philosophy. It's a fanfiction, without two of the major characters. Four, if you count the Oracle and the Architect.

Trivia: had Indy stayed in the past he probably would have been killed by the same Roman soldier that killed Archimedes. The Romans eventually conquered the city and murdered most of its inhabitants. Marcellus, the Roman commander, gave explicit orders that Archimedes was not to be harmed. History doesn't record what happened to the soldier who killed him.

That was the only thing that didn't make sense to me. If Mutt was in his early 20s in 1957 and the draft began in 1964, he would have had to have volunteered for the service and been relatively old compared to the draftees. But, as Indy said, he enlisted just to piss him off. He did have a rebellious streak, and it's difficult to envision him having the discipline to avoid becoming the Push-up King of boot camp.

@graylykan2739 Or what Paramount did with Star Trek.

@Fedaygin I always rooted for the wheelchair guy in Alien Resurrection. Rocket Raccoon reminds me of him.

@VonDelacroix Just like Star Wars.

Would it create a paradox if you used the dial to prevent your past self from seeing the movie?

@GreyhawkTheAngry It would be fun to be a fly on the wall for that conversation... "What part of 'Archimedes isn't to be harmed' didn't you understand? Putz! Dunderhead! If you weren't related to my wife's cousin..."

And yet, they found a way. Tired, derivative characters and scripts, endless sequels.

"...plucky young female character to show him the way." Six months ago I read that the movie was a lead-in to the "New Indiana Jones", a black lesbian transgender, and the series would be rebooted.
