Let me tell you something...when COVID hit what the "experts" were telling us reminded me of the old computer viruses. There are no respiratory viruses that can be passed on without the carrier being sick, but they told us that this is how it spread. There were viruses and Trojans that didn't affect your computer but attached themselves to everything you sent. More sophisticated versions would silently send spam to everyone on your email programs' contact list. Friday the 13th and Halloween were the favorite time of the hackers to activate the virus and wreck your computer. Someone figured out that if they held your machine hostage instead of destroying it you'd pay money to get the data back, and ransomware was born.
