@scott3893 I appreciate your viewpoint and experience. So often, when viewing from afar (and especially when money is involved) we see all too rosy narratives of gorgeous places. With respect to the ups and downs of countries, it's similar to all of these people in the stock market who don't remember being impacted by recession in 1992 and 2002. All sorts of YOLO in the good times, but then it becomes begging on Go Fund Me when reality bites. Our goals are to be cautious renters, retaining mobility for the down swings.

@TheYarbros "when they conquer the druglords?" Do tell, when has that happened anywhere in the world? As long as there is money to be made, life changing money, people will go transnational to vacuum it up. I've read that a lof of the coastal crime in Ecuador now is Armenian and Eastern European mafia. Sounds more complex than some Colombians migrating across the border. I hope it works out. But I'm not buying anything. I just got released from real estate for the first time in 30 years, FFS.
