Flat earthers. Pfff... They never saw a ship disappearing on the horizon, at an inclination as if it was sinking bow first. That guy doesn't know how to read, or interpret what's being said.

The sun doesn't emit neither concentric or parallel rays of photons. The photosphere can emit photons in all directions on any given point of its surface. The fact that photons from the sun reach in parallel rays to the surface of the earth has more to do with the size of the earth relative from its distance from the sun. The sun could be smaller or much bigger, and it really doesn't matter.

@stylesrj In fact, all you need is a 20 Km distance if you are at sea level when observing the ship. Not saying that the earth's curvature is relevant at that distance, or the earth is that small, but since you are at sea level, and since the ship is only about 9 stories high, the very slight curvature is easily perceptible when you are at almost sea level. That perception rapidly goes away if you climb a 30 m cliff, and observe the same ship again, that is still 20 Km away from you.
