  1. The fact that the singularity is all around makes sense. That explains why the universe seems to close in on a smaller and smaller sphere, because the singularity is closing in on you. However, it you manage to point to that sphere, while you can, you can hypothetically escape the singularity without having to go back in time, provided that you can travel faster than light.
