  1. You can cut concrete, with the advantage that you don't need supporting walls. Plus, concrete is not flimsy like stick frames used in US houses.

  2. I don't like how american houses are built nowadays. Why are wood beams made of what is essentially agglomerate, and only two thin strips of wood, at the bottom and at the top, taking all the compressive and tensile forces? A solid wood beam would be much better. That house was definitely not made to last. An incident with water would make the whole floor unstable.
