Indeed. It is one of those laws that don't make sense in a democratic society. They shouldn't have carte blanche. Not even diplomats should have.

@NotALizardPerson81 Stealing soda cans and liquor from a boss normally would get one fired, and maybe some community work, or even a night in jail, but it should be no more than that. It is a petty crime.

It is no wonder that the prisons in the US are full. And being forced to plead guilty? That doesn't happen even in a third world country. In fact, I haven't seen it happening in Europe. When you are trialed in Europe, you are not forced to say that you are guilty. In fact, you have to defend your case and refute evidence, but that's it. You only will get in prison if your crime is proven beyond reasonable doubt, but seemingly not in the US.

James Gray But morally it makes no sense. It is a "get out of jail free" card, basically. That will allow morally corrupt people in power to do whatever they want. And we know that FBI might have a few rotten apples.

James Gray Well, that is not new.

Agree!

Well, it is time do do psychological admission tests, to weed all the psychopaths. A few rotten apples can spoil the whole.
