A recipe for disaster, basically. That is not the proper way of learning, unless someone is super interested by the subject, and even at that. What you are reporting is nothing short of an extortion scheme. "Learn, or else get evicted.". That's crazy.

@codetech5598 Which quite often happens. Even new tractors are dismantled and sold for scrap in Africa. It is a culture where worrying about the future doesn't even exist. Hence the "mosquito net" problem.

Exactly. The internet will not feed them. Survival skills is what is important. Also, strikingly resource managing and thinking about the future are skills that are quite needed in Africa, along with critical thinking that is scarce in the rest of the world.

Exactly. Programming is not useful in Africa because the infrastructure is not even there, and they have to cover other bases a lot. Programming will only be useful to them if they want to work in developed countries. And even at that, programming is dying largely due to AI, which is taking away jobs in that sector, and of course, between a programmer with a large experience and a programmer with little experience, it is merit that wins.

@salvatoreshiggerino6810 Except that "Paperts, Minskies, Stallmen, Sussmen" not only thrive in certain environments, they are only found in certain environments. Probably you will have more luck finding a Mozart in Africa.

That won't solve, because the people will use mosquito nets to get more fish. You don't understand African culture. They don't care about the future. It is a "spend everything today and who cares about the future" mentality.

@Notllamalord Far more easier for teachers to manage, but a worse way to teach.

Ditto!

It is a "feel good" drug for the elites, to make them feel ok after stealing money from working people.

@DeathnoteBB Thanks, captain obvious, for reminding me that Africa is a continent. What should I compare Africa to. Are there any developed continents? Anyway, who cares, because any country in Africa is just more of the same. Basically, money sinkholes.
