@markylon Chimes are not universal. They are not generally used in Europe.

@markylon Notice that I say "not generally". I didn't say they were never used. As for universal, that is very debatable.

@markylon I think you are arguing for the sake of arguing. You are giving disparate and unsupported reasons just to support your argument. It ends here.

@markylon Facts are hard evidence. What you are presenting are assumptions. I never have directly seen such a chime in my life, like so many people. I was not familiarized with them not a long time ago either. I don't deny that they are ubiquitous in countries like the US. But you should inquiry next time before jumping to conclusions.

@markylon Not in my country. That doesn't exist here. So, it is not universal. You know that Britain doesn't dictate the standards to be used elsewhere in the world.

@markylon Just because it is protocol in the UK, it doesn't mean that it is universal. Your arrogance is aggravating me, sincerely. Go see the meaning of universal in a dictionary, before arguing with me. That standard is not used in many countries, so it is not universal. The fact that is used in English speaking countries is not evidence. For you, it seems that the world is only the UK and the US.

@markylon One more thing, this is not a measuring context. But if you want to go for the qualified route, I'm qualified in electronics design, and also in control and automation. My qualifications allowed me to design fully functional touch sensitive call/car buttons for elevator use, for an elevator company. The buttons are actually in use. Plus, I'll be contracted to design an elevator controller in the near future. Still, want to talk about how "universal" a British standard is, or how qualified you are? You fix them, I make them.
