I grew up with somebody who is constantly talking about how he deserves to be high paid sales manager, and how he's about to lie on his resume about going to Harvard and all this stuff. He really believes it is a great idea and will be a pathway to longterm success. It's crazy. I've learned over the years that not only does dude have disgnosed ADHD, but he also has a borderline-malignant paranoid narcissistic personality type. Classic symptom is inflated sense of importance and knowledge.
