They're repeating a fake twitter Democrat talking point. The TN GOP never tried to change the age restrictions on marriage. Here's what happened. The TN GOP introduced a bill to amend the marriage law. The Dems, bitter about the FL law, started shrieking that there was no age restrictions in the amendment bill. The GOP said that it didn't change the established age limits. But GOP members of the committee put the age limits in the bill nevertheless. So this talking point is a total lie.

Except they don't want to. The bill says you have to be 18. The GOP said the bill didn't change the age, but was just an amendment to established law. The Democrats thought they had a talking point, so the GOP put the age limit in the bill. This is a completely fake talking point.

@freedommatters7677 This is story has been debunked long ago. They didn't change the age of marriage. And every state has exceptions, parental consent or emancipated minors, for younger than 18. TN allows 17 with exceptions. It has nothing to do with pedophilia, the partner has to be young also, no more than 4 years older. They're just straight up lying. A desperate attempt to deflect the "groomer" accusation that has hurt the left so much.

@mrg0th1er83 Every state allows minors (not children) to marry in certain circumstances. The lowest possible age is in Massachusetts. So this is a fake narrative. TN allows 17 year olds to marry with parental permission. That's true in just about every state. This is a totally fake narrative.

@mrg0th1er83 This is just like caring all of a sudden that minors can legally have sex. Why? Because when two 16 year olds have sex people don't want them sent to prison. Now, all of a sudden the left is looking for something to posture about because the "groomer" insult is getting traction.

The exceptions to 18, have requirements, such as parental and or judge permission, and the couples' age is not too far apart. But the info on this channel is BS. The only state that allows that low an age under law is Massachusetts. On here they're lying saying it is Republicans. TN requires 17 yo minimum.

@mrg0th1er83 But you're commenting on a video that's based on a lie. In TN you have to be 18 for a common law marriage, and 17 for a license with parental permission and no more than 4 years apart. Also, there are age of consent laws in the US, which make sex with children a crime.

@mrg0th1er83 If someone age 12 is getting married to an adult. Then you'd be able to name the case. States have records. Again, currently only MA allows that age with exceptions.

@mrg0th1er83 You realize that marriage records are public? So if a judge issued a license for a child marriage, at 12, that you claim is legal somewhere. Then this is not secret. Examples?

In TN a 17 year old can get married with parental consent or a judge's ruling. That's the exact same law they have in Democrat states, while for example, MA doesn't even have the 17 year old minimum. This is as stupid as arguing that because the age at which a minor can consent to sex is lower than 18 (in every state) when the age difference isn't too great, 13 in Hawaii, Connecticut, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, "The Tennessee GOP supports child rape Reeeeeeeeeee". 7/9 of those are Democrat controlled states.

This is exactly the same as if I the GOP in Massachusetts introduced a bill to allow liquor sales in supermarkets, then the Democrats thought they had a gotcha "There's no age in the bill. You want children to drink." And the GOP said, "The age isn't changed. It's 21. But here we put 21 in the bill." And then you liars are "The GOP want children to drink hard liquor in MA!!!"

@brushcreek42 The laws have always been like that. There's such a think as emancipated minors. And cases when a minor (17 is allowed in TN) gets pregnant and the family feels getting married is a better option, than the single parent families.

That's because the US federal government has no role in marriage. It's all at the state level. This whole left wing attempt at "No..You!!!" at the groomer insult is not going to work, because it's completely inorganic. The GOP responded to this by putting the age restrictions explicitly in the bill. But the Democratic party is not backing down in their support for sex and gender indoctrination for K-3. (BTW. Democrat voters 3:1 support the FL law. But the Dem leadership can't help themselves.)
