I always wondered this about this movie. That whole war was a just war. But everyone was always saying "this movie is about fascism." That's like saying the US was fascist for fighting Germany and Japan.

This is the Europeans being snooty, arrogant, and insecure at the same time. If you're American, it's the reaction you get from them all the time. The most absurd example of this was the ex-security minister of Germany sobbing after JD Vance called them out for their censorship and violations of rights.

The problem with radicals is that over 99% of the time the system they would erect would be much worse that what they want to take down. Consider Chomsky defending the Khmer Rouge, while he thinks Bill Clinton is a criminal comparable to bin Laden.

Kamala Harris never went on an unfriendly, or even an non-aligned, platform. She was invited on Joe Rogan, but chickened out, after they couldn't get him to agree to allow them to edit the interview.

He's even an immigrant to Hollywood. Before the Robocop all his films were Dutch.
4
suchomimus No. He's a right winger pretending to be leftist for cover. At least says some mangina a week ago.

An American middle class family is a member of the "have a littles"? It's seems that it's radical today to not be greedy and money obsessed.
2
Why didn't they just nuke the bug planet? Why waste lives fighting with small arms?
2
@TheDutchGhost Each battle I saw in the movie could have been handled with a nuke, without out loss of life.

It's the most important issue for millions of liberal women, who can no longer get pregnant.
2
You should do the politics of Idiocracy.

There were many lies spread by the Democrats and media. 1) Protesters defecated and spread it around. --false. It was a rainy Jan. day. They tracked mud into the building. 2) Officers died. --false. 4 protesters died, two by police violence, and 2 from heart attacks from flash-bang grenades thrown into the protest mob. Off. Sicknick died of an unrelated stroke, which had nothing to do with any trauma, which he did not experience. 3) The Congressional meeting was adjourned because of the violence. --false. It was adjourned because of the (fake) pipe bombs discovered at the DNC and RNC. Recently released video shows the police completely unconcerned for their safety when they found the devices. They were also unconcerned with children walking close by. An FBI investigator tracked the suspect to a car in VA registered to a Navy officer. And the FBI did not permit the investigator to follow the lead.

No. The U.S., Britain, free France, and other countries before occupation, were not fascist. Democracies aren't fascist. Even the Soviet Union wasn't fascist, because they were communist. This is what I always found annoying about this movie. Militarism, especially when it's a defensive war, is not fascism. This is Verhoeven's worst movie. It's almost as bad as his first movie about two ugly prostitutes in Amsterdam "Wat Zien Ik".
2
Why didn't they just nuke the bug planet? Instead they pointlessly sent down infantry with guns to get killed. That's a really inefficient way to kill the bugs.
2
The Star Trek federation would have been a form of communism. But it was a post scarcity technological society. But Roddenberry's ideas were a bit absurd. Human nature isn't going to change. There will always be greed, envy, lust for power, etc. The writing is inconsistent regarding this, because you can't have interesting stories in a utopia.

2:00 Shinzo Abe is the one in the room who appears to be on Trump's side. Strangely, he was assassinated.
2
These lefties sound really pathetic. Like Kyle Kullinski, "But Trump and Musk would never audit the Pentagon." They're doing that right now. The Sec. of D. Hegseth has announced a full audit, so they can cut the fat.
2
That actress looks like Anita Sarkesian.

The Trump phenomenon shows how the "protect our democracy" faction of the political and media establishment reacts when people actually exercise their political interests.
1
It's definitely the rare exception when a good movie is made based on an existing franchise. The Dark Knight was good. But Star Wars is dead. But also Nolan only intended to make 3 movies, and not try to milk it forever.
1
The Ukraine drone footage is really creepy. Even WW2, there were generals on both sides who ordered all their men to not shoot at paratroopers in the air, because they were helpless.
1
@bdog-it4701 It's only "democracy" when THEY are in power. Notice that they're all for election interference when it comes to prevent Trump's election this November, eg. removing him from ballots, soviet show trials, civil trials meant to bankrupt him, etc.
1
The US government is like this also. There's this subservience to Israel that the Zionists expect.
1
@hehheh382 The most interesting thing I found out just this year, is that the pipe bombs, which the FBI is still supposed to be investigating, were apparently an FBI hoax. The police were completely unconcerned when they were told of them--not clearing the street or sidewalk and walking right up to them. They had a 1 hour egg timers, which obviously couldn't be used for a long delay fuse. And those devices were given as the reason for adjourning the Congressional meeting. So connect the dots. The Feds planned on having the meeting interrupted, so they could blame it on Trump. Trump currently has an indictment for "instigating the violence" which is total nonsense. His speech wasn't remotely "incitement" under US law.
1
nbp raptor Not categorically. Italians, Germans and Japanese like Americans, more so than dome of the nations we liberated, partly because the way the U.S. treated them after the war. France reacted to the war the way Cenk Uygur does to debates.

You'll have a plasma TV, that gets the Masturbation Network, and a chair with a built in toilet. And you'll be happy, because your IQ is 50.
1
4:20 That's basically a chapter in Genealogy of Morals by Nietzsche.
1
Dominic Romani Even if Verhoeven said that, he didn't believe it. He wouldn't have become a U.S. resident in the 80's, after living through Nazi occupied Netherlands.
1
Liberalism has evolved into this sick degenerate form of incredibly weak moral philosophy. I've always been an atheist, but I have a higher view of Christianity and Islam than liberalism.
1
@Wallyworld30 I don't think so. His movies would have mostly been rated R, but the over the top violence didn't exist.
1
Robocop and Total Recall were much better movies. Perhaps because they weren't about a political ideology that Verhoeven didn't understand. Come on. The Netherlands has (or had) mandatory military service. That would make the Netherlands more fascistic than the Earth Federation.
1
Is CNN going to do a whole episode on how Trump uses a felt tip pen, rather than a ball point or a fountain pen?
1
We haven't replaced musical instruments, paint and paint brushes, and sculpture with computer composition and cgi...completely.
1
It's interesting that usaid, established in 1961 by president Kennedy, has evolved into the perfect example of "globohomo" --leftwing social radicalism combined with an imperialist meddling, and funding revolutions, in other countries.
1
"Judgement Day is inevitable."
1
They're getting it all dismantled this time, because Trump and his team had 4 years to figure out what they did wrong during the first term. They were more tolerant, and that was a big mistake. Because the woke, the commies, want them dead. (And I'm not being hyperbolic. Watch e.g. Kyle Kullinski. He's calling for Musk to be eliminated.
1
The fact that the left is melting down so hard, because of this audit, says a lot. Some commentators, eg Kyle Kullinski, are pretty much calling for terrorism as a response.

Armies can use an EMP to knock out automated drones.
