I would have thought all these Israeli households near Gaza would be armed. They had to retreat to a "safe room", then were either burned to death when they set their house on fire or were shot running from the house.

@Spoltish They should have automatic M16s. A shotgun would also be helpful.

@MarkJoseph81 It's not quite the same thing. Israelis are being killed by an external threat. If an enemy indiscriminately kills civilians then everyone is a combatant. So everyone should be armed.

@jhoughjr1 An assault rifle, such as the M16, is versatile; good for both close quarters machine fire, and accurate and lethal at distances.
