How is Bragg going to ignore the statute of limitations, that were passed 2 years ago? That's just one of about 5 issues that make this illegal.

@jwenting No. I think it's in the statute that you can't press charges after some period after the supposed crime happened. The supposed hush money payment was in 2016. There's a 5 year statute of limitations. That's just one of many issues that make this case unlawful. Bragg raised the charges to felonies, using a clause that says if the book keeping was done to cover up a crime. But how can Bragg (and a state court) judge whether federal campaign law was broken? The State court can't prosecute federal law. There's also the Robert J. Costello testimony. Cohen's former lawyer testified that Cohen is a liar and "Trump had nothing to do with the payment". You can't put someone on the stand whose own lawyer testifies is a liar. Trump isn't the one going down with this.

@jwenting I'm not sure what you're trying to say. The statute of limitations puts a time limit on prosecuting a case. If someone was put convicted in a case brought after the statute of limitations expired, then they must have had an incredibly incompetent lawyer and a crooked judge, and should appeal.

How do they even proceed with this? The statute of limitations are expired, 2 years ago. Bragg, as a state prosecutor, has no authority to raise the charge to a felony, as there was no federal campaign charge. Cohen's lawyer, Robert J. Costello, testified that Cohen is a liar, and Trump had nothing to do with the payment. They have Robert J. Costello's letter to the FEC stating that Cohen is a liar and Trump had nothing to do with the payment. Robert J. Costello also has 300 emails, showing the same thing, that Cohen is a liar. That's 4 issues that would make a judge throw it out. Bragg is planning to ignore jurisprudence. Maybe someone here is a lawyer, but in such a situation I think you get a non-corrupt court to intervene.

@jwenting There's a clause in the constitution that says you can't be prosecuted for a crime before it was made illegal. That's called and ex post facto law. So such a prosecution is unconstitutional apart from a statute of limitations. The framers knew that was a tactic dictators use. For example Saddam Hussein made trading foreign currency illegal, then rounded up people who were doing it and chopped their hands off on national TV. Under American law you can't break a law before it exists.

@castorkat4868 Trump can easily hire lawyers. Many will want to do this case for free, because it's such corrupt prosecutorial misconduct.
